Rafael Nadal encaraba la semifinal de Roland Garros, enfrentando al buen jugador alemán Alexander Zverev, ambos venían de victorias muy importantes donde lucieron excelentes, pero cada partido es distinto y hoy se esperaba una gran lucha entre estos dos grandes tenistas. Luego de 3 horas donde no se pudo finalizar el segundo set, podemos confirmar que efectivamente el juego estuvo muy peleado en la cancha, Alexander Zverev lamentablemente sufre una lesión al doblarse el tobillo y se lleva el partido Rafael Nadal avanzando a una nueva final en su torneo favorito. Las acciones terminarían con un marcador de 7-6 ganando Nadal ese primer set, luego todo se detuvo en el segundo dejando el partido 6-6, siendo un juego un poco complicado para Nadal, pues no vimos su mejor versión y tendrá que ajustar un poco para su gran final.

El partido se encontraba 5-2 en el tie break de primer set a favor de Zverev, pero Rafael Nadal pudo darle vuelta a ese resultado ganando 4 puntos consecutivos y posteriormente llevándose el set 7-6. Estoy seguro que mentalmente esto fue muy fuerte para Zverev, tuvo varias oportunidades de ganar el partido, se veía que estaba mejor, pero no definió en los momentos que no se pueden fallar y el español no perdona.

Un partido muy intenso desde el comienzo, para el segundo set ambos jugadores se quebraron el servicio durante 4 ocasiones, esto nos dicta que hubieron muchos errores por parte de ellos dos, pero pienso que mientras mas se alargaba el juego, mas oportunidades de victoria tenia la leyenda Rafael Nadal, llevar 3 horas de juego sin haber terminado el segundo set, tiene que ser muchísimo desgaste, pero Nadal esta acostumbrado a estas batallas largas y Zverev es un hombre que se va quedando de a poco cuando los partidos son muy largos.

Lamentablemente no pudimos apreciar lo que seria el segundo tie break del partido, para Zverev era fundamental ganar si deseaba remontar el juego, porque si Nadal se colocaba 2-0 prácticamente aseguraba la victoria, jamás ha perdido un encuentro en Roland Garros después de estar 2-0 arriba y con lo largo que se hizo el partido; una remontada en esas circunstancias iba lucir muy lejana y es muy triste que no se haya podido ver ese desenlace. Espero que Zverev se recupere pronto de su lesión de tobillo, jugo muy bien este torneo, quizás se mereció un poco mas en este partido, pero si no concretas los puntos de victoria, difícilmente puedas ganarle a un jugador como Rafael Nadal que suele ser letal.

La agresividad del español tiene que estar presente en la final, dejo que Zverev llevara la iniciativa en todo momento, por alguna razón sus tiros estaban quedando muy cortos, ofreciendo ventajas a su rival de atacarlo y de ganarle el punto con mayor comodidad. Estoy seguro que Nadal debe comprender que su juego no fue de gran nivel, espero que salga con mas garra en la final si quiere ser campeón, aunque lo veo como el gran favorito, no puede estar dependiendo del error del rival, tiene que ser el quien decida el rumbo del juego y pegar mucho con profundidad para poner incomodo a su adversario en cancha.

La final será el domingo a las 9:00 am, por ahora la fiera espera rival, se esta jugando la otra semifinal entre Casper Ruud vs Marin Cilic, no se pueden perder ese juego, Rafael Nadal estará en busca de su titulo número 14 en Roland Garros y seguir creciendo su enorme carrera deportiva.
