Ha sido una serie emocionante, con récords y hazañas que quedarán para la historia y nombres de peloteros que se han entregado en cuerpo y alma a este deporte y que por su trayectoria y resultados deportivos pronto estará en Cooperstown. Pero esta publicación no tiene ese objetivo y quizás, en una próxima publicación me refiera a ellos.

Como expresé al inicio terminó la Serie Mundial de la temporada 2021-2022 y tuvo a un justo ganador: Los Astros de Houston. Reconozco que en una publicación referida a esta serie daba como favorito a los Phillies, a pesar de reconocer y saber que los Astros tenían un equipo más completo y habían tenido un torneo redondo que en la medida que iba avanzando mejoraban más y más. En tal sentido reconocer que @fermionico y @fulldeportes2 me dijeron que los Astros debían ganar por la solidez de su equipo.
Cumpliendo pronósticos
Los Astros de Houston fueron uno de los pocos equipos que ganó más de 100 juegos en la temporada regular y en los play off de la división y en la serie de campeonato hizo valer su favoritismo y cumplió con los pronósticos barriendo a todos sus rivales. Rumbo a la discusión de la Serie Mundial se perfilaban como el claro favorito.
Destrozando pronósticos.
Los Phillies de la Philadelfia tuvieron un torneo irregular e incluso ganaron menos de 90 juegos, pero fueron uno de los comodines de esta serie y no salía como favorito, para casi ninguno de los entendidos y en los pronósticos estaban destinados a quedar en el camino, pero contrario al pensamiento generalizado y a fuerza de juego alegre y buen bateo lograron vencer a todos sus rivales y llegar a la discusión de la Serie Mundial.
Dentro de esos equipos que dejaron en el camino estuvieron los hasta hoy campeones de la Serie Mundial: Los Bravos de Atlanta.
La Serie Mundial
Fue un encuentro inédito. Nunca antes se habían enfrentado estos dos equipos en una serie mundial. De los dos equipos Filadelfia tiene más historia general, pero en la última década Astros ha sido mejor.
Sería un encuentro, con un claro favorito de los entendidos, por todo lo sucedido durante el campeonato, pero los Phillies estaban decididos a cambiar esa historia.
En la publicación anterior titulada El Ecuador de la Serie Mundial…… daba mis criterios sobre los 4 primeros enfrentamientos y decía que el juego 5 sería clave, por varias razones, pero si ganaba Houston tendría todas las de ganar porque debía ganar uno de dos juegos y además, jugarían en sus predios.
El juego 5 lo ganó el equipo de los Astros de Houston y tuvo varios elementos importantes. Aquí les dejo 3 de ellos:
•Puso la serie 3 a 2, a su favor
•Le ganó dos juegos en su estadio a los de Filadelfia. Esto fue clave, porque en estos play off no habían perdido ningún encuentro como home club
•Pero el elemento más importante fue que su principal carta de triunfo y pitcher número 1 Justin Verlander logró, a sus 38 años, ganar el juego y alcanzar su primera victoria en Series Mundiales.

Para este juego los Astros enviaron al box a Framber Valdés quien volvió a maniatar a los de Filadelfia y aun, cuando estos comenzaron ganando 1 carrera por 0, fue todo lo que pudieron hacerle al pitcheo rival, mientras los Astros de la mano de Yordan Álvarez viraban el marcador y con jonrón de 3 carreras dejaba sentenciada la Serie Mundial. Más adelante los Astros volvían a notar, para la tranquilidad de sus seguidores, pero no era necesario, pues los bates de los Phillies de Philadelfia se durmieron al terminar el juego 3.
Claves de la victoria de los Astros de Houston
•Juego colectivo y no depender de ningún jugador,
•Bateo oportuno de sus jugadores, para traer las carreras necesarias,
•El pitcheo logró maniatar a los bateadores rivales; sobre todo en los últimos 3 partidos.
•La victoria en el juego 5 les dio una fuerza extra porque, además de ponerlos al frente y a un solo juego de coronarse campeones mundiales lo hicieron de la mano de Justin Verlander, que obtenía el premio de ganar un juego en series mundiales.
•Ganarle dos partidos a los Phillies en su terreno.
•Fortaleza sicológica, para reponerse a un golpe, como el del 1er y 3er juego. El primero lo perdieron en el décimo después de estarlo ganando por 5 carreras y el 3ro al permitir su segundo pitcher del staff 5 jonrones.
Claves de la derrota de los Phillies de Philadelfia
•Su pitcheo no tuvo la efectividad necesaria, para mantener ventajas o sostenerse en el box por el tiempo requerido
•Adolecieron de un buen bateo, pues, a pesar de conectar varios jonrones los promedios ofensivos y de envasados fueron muy bajos,
•Les faltó oportunidad a sus bateadores y estos no lograban conectar de hits, con hombres en posición anotadora. Por tal razón, dejaron muchos hombres en circulación y así no pueden ganarse partidos.
•No funcionaron como equipo y tuvieron una gran dependencia de Harper y esto es un juego de equipo en el que todos tienen que aportar, sino el deporte te pasa la cuenta.

Una reflexión final
Han ganado los Astros de Houston y han sido los justos merecedores de este trofeo. Demostraron que en los deportes de equipo el protagonista fundamental es el equipo y que el aporte de todos es fundamental, para alcanzar los resultados deseados. En unos juegos se destacaron Altuve, Yuliesky, en otros Berman o Jeremy Peña quien fuera seleccionado MVP de la Serie Mundial. En el juego de hoy se destacó Yordan Álvarez, pero en el 5to fue Justin Verlander o Framber Valdés en el 2do y hoy. Menciono a estos jugadores, pero fueron todos los que lograron alcanzar este triunfo merecido.
En esta victoria tuvo un mérito especial su cuerpo de dirección encabezado por Dusty Baker quien supo conducir a esta constelación de Astros y ubicarlos nuevamente en lo más alto del firmamento beisbolero mundial.

It has concluded one of the most exciting World Series in history, at least, of those that I have been able to enjoy in the years of life dedicated to this exciting world of sports and especially of balls and strikes.
It has been an exciting series, with records and feats that will remain for history and names of ballplayers who have given their body and soul to this sport and who, because of their career and sporting results, will soon be in Cooperstown. But this publication does not have that objective and perhaps, in a future publication I will refer to them.
As I said at the beginning, the World Series of the 2021-2022 season ended and it had a fair winner: The Houston Astros. I recognize that in a publication referring to this series I gave the Phillies as favorite, despite recognizing and knowing that the Astros had a more complete team and had had a round tournament that as it progressed improved more and more. In that sense, I recognize that @fermionico and @fulldeportes2 told me that the Astros should win because of the solidity of their team.
Fulfilling predictions
The Houston Astros were one of the few teams that won more than 100 games in the regular season and in the division playoffs and in the championship series they made their favoritism count and fulfilled the predictions by sweeping all their rivals. Heading into the World Series discussion, they were the clear favorite.
**Shattering forecasts. **
The Philadelphia Phillies had an irregular tournament and even won less than 90 games, but they were one of the wild cards of this series and did not come out as favorite, for almost none of the experts and in the forecasts they were destined to be left on the road, but contrary to the generalized thought and by dint of a cheerful game and good batting they managed to beat all their rivals and reach the discussion of the World Series.
Among the teams they left on the road were the current World Series champions: the Atlanta Braves.

The World Series
It was an unprecedented encounter. Never before had these two teams met in a World Series. Of the two teams Philadelphia has more overall history, but in the last decade the Astros have been better.
It would be a matchup, with a clear favorite of the pundits, for all that had happened during the championship, but the Phillies were determined to change that history.
In the previous publication entitled The Ecuador of the World Series ...... I gave my criteria on the first 4 confrontations and said that game 5 would be key, for several reasons, but if Houston won, they would have everything to win because they had to win one of two games and besides, they would be playing in their home grounds.
Game 5 was won by the Houston Astros and had several important elements. Here are 3 of them:
They put the series 3-2 in their favor.
They won two games in their stadium against the Philadelphia Astros. This was key, because in these playoffs they had not lost any game as a home club.
But the most important element was that their main trump card and number 1 pitcher Justin Verlander managed, at the age of 38, to win the game and achieve his first victory in the World Series.
The definitive Game 6.
For this game, the Astros sent Framber Valdés to the box, who once again held the Phillies at bay and even when they started winning 1 run for 0, it was all they could do to the rival pitching, while the Astros, thanks to Yordan Álvarez, turned the scoreboard around and with a 3-run home run, sentenced the World Series. Later on, the Astros scored again, for the tranquility of their fans, but it was not necessary, as the bats of the Philadelphia Phillies fell asleep at the end of game 3.

Collective play and not depending on any one player,

The pitching was able to keep the opposing hitters at bay, especially in the last 3 games.
The victory in game 5 gave them extra strength because, in addition to putting them in front and only one game away from being crowned world champions, they did it with the help of Justin Verlander, who obtained the prize of winning a game in a world series.

Psychological strength, to recover from a blow, as in the 1st and 3rd games. The first one they lost in the 10th after winning by 5 runs and the 3rd after allowing their second pitcher of the staff 5 home runs.

Their pitching did not have the necessary effectiveness to maintain leads or stay in the box for the required amount of time.
They lacked good batting, because, in spite of hitting several home runs, their offensive and batting averages were very low,
They lacked opportunities for their hitters and they were unable to get hits with men in scoring position. For this reason, they left many men in circulation and this is not the way to win games.
They did not work as a team and had a great dependence on Harper and this is a team game in which everyone has to contribute, otherwise the sport will take its toll.
A final thought
The Houston Astros won and were justly deserving of this trophy. They demonstrated that in team sports the fundamental protagonist is the team and that everyone's contribution is essential to achieve the desired results. In some games Altuve, Yuliesky, in others Berman or Jeremy Peña, who was selected MVP of the World Series, stood out. In today's game Yordan Alvarez stood out, but in the 5th it was Justin Verlander or Framber Valdes in the 2nd and today.
