En el estadio Arena MRV, popularmente conocido como "Arena do Galo" se disputó el encuentro de ida de la primera semifinal por la Conmebol Copa Libertadores, entre los clubes, Atlético Mineiro y River Plate; un encuentro que me creo muchas expectativas porque estaba convencido de que tendría goles y buen fútbol y puedo decir que uno de los clubes si cumplió con mis expectativas, mientras que el otro fue una gran decepción.
El Clube Atlético Mineiro dio una clase magistral de fútbol en el encuentro de ida a un rival el cual se esperaba más dificultad para a superarlo, primeramente creo que Gabriel Milito, convenció a sus jugadores a no subestimar a sus oponentes en esta semifinal y desde ese momento creo que comenzó por lo menos ganando este primer encuentro entre estos clubes de Brasil y Argentina; la solidez defensiva del club brasileño se demostró desde la defensa; el plan ideado por el DT argentino fue el marcar hombre a hombre, a los atacantes y mediocampistas del club Millonario, lo cual rompió todo circuito de juego por parte del club visitante, el cual nunca pudo desplegar ningún juego, llevándolo a depender de individuales y alguna que otra ahijada fortuita para poder acercarse al arco rival.
