Nadal Impresionante [Esp - Eng]

Este lunes se vivió una jornada tenística espectacular, en los octavos de final del torneo de Wimbledon, tercer "Major" de la temporada que no deja de regalar emociones a montón. A parte del grato momento que he sentido con la clasificación del chileno Christian Garín, superando al australiano De Miñaur con una recuperación espectacular; hubo otros tres encuentros de gran nivel, con los que se clasificaron Nick Kyrgios, Taylor Fritz y por supuesto Rafael Nadal; y es de este último de quien he hecho mi análisis de hoy.

This Monday was a spectacular day of tennis, in the round of 16 of the Wimbledon tournament, the third "Major" of the season that never ceases to give a lot of emotions. Apart from the pleasant moment I felt with the classification of the Chilean Christian Garin, beating the Australian De Miñaur with a spectacular recovery; there were three other matches of great level, with which Nick Kyrgios, Taylor Fritz and of course Rafael Nadal qualified; and it is of the latter that I have made my analysis today.

Debo recalcar que el español Nº 4 del ranking, ha llegado a esta instancia, luego de superar al argentino Frank Cerúndulo, a Berankis y a Sonego y me da la impresión que Rafa mejora en cada partido, sobre todo en su primer servicio y eso siempre es un factor clave para dominar al rival; mientras que Botic superó a Feliciano López, a Ruusuvuori y a Gasquet, dejando buenas sensaciones de su gran tenis a ritmo cambiante, dado que recorta y acelera sus tiros inesperadamente, convirtiéndose en un contendiente a tener en cuenta.

No obstante, en el primer set es Nadal quien sostiene y ataca al servicio contrario, mostrando su mejor cara ofensiva en los intercambios; pero aunque Botic echa mano de su fuerte servicio y también ejecuta buenos drives cruzados, es Rafa quien logra quebrar al décimo game, gracias a que nunca dejó de presionar (con regalo de doble falta por parte del neerlandés), una batalla muy pareja para el 6-4 en 42 minutos. En la segunda manga, el nacido en Wageningen salió con todo su arsenal, ejecutando un revés fuerte y bien colocado, que lo mantuvo en play.

Pero el balear no aflojaba el acelerador y seguía atacando con fuerza, sobre todo al segundo saque de Botic, que en los momentos decisivos parecía temblarle el pulso. Además que ve r a un atleta que es diez años mayor, pero corre y defiende cada punto con tal vehemencia, es frustrante para cualquiera ja,ja,ja; además ver a Rafa quebrar su principal arma (el saque) y que vaya arriba 3-0 no es nada fácil de digerir. Van De Zandschulp incurrió en varios errores no forzados que fueron muy costosos, incluso no aprovechó los segundos saques de Nadal.

Esta pequeña falla fue corregida inmediatamente por el español, que acelera y recupera el break, Rafa no se confía ni regala ventajas.

Y como el que pega bien pega dos veces, Nadal vuelve a quebrar al sexto game para luego asegurar el propio y estar 5-2 arriba. Si embargo Botic salvó su golpeado orgullo para sostener, romper (por segunda vez) y luego volver a sostener su servicio apretando los dientes. Fue una reacción que avivó la gradería y llevó el encuentro al tie break, en el que Rafa volvió a estar arriba 5-2 (mini-quiebre incluido); Pero aunque Nadal tuvo 3 puntos de partido (6-3), Botic pudo igualar al extremo, para luego echar fuera un smash lateral.

Con ese último error no forzado (34 en total) y con el reloj en 2 horas y 21 minutos, termina Van De Zandschulp su gesta en la hierba londinense; contemplando la décima clasificación de Rafa a cuartos de final; donde enfrentará al jovencito que le ganó aquella final en Indian Wells hace casi 3 meses Taylor Fritz. Ahora la incertidumbre se hace presente en este choque, dado que Fritz viene invicto en Londres, primero con su título en Eastbourne y ahora en Wimbledon, dónde no ha perdido ningún set. Aunque Rafa también sigue invicto pero a nivel de Grand Slams, con 19 partidos consecutivos al hilo.
¿Habrá dulce revancha ante Fritz? Todo es posible cuando Nadal está en la pista.
