El Sábado 27 de Agosto del presente año se disputará lo es la última carrera de campeonato regular de la NASCAR Cup Series, que se correrá en el súper óvalo de Daytona, donde ya se corrió la primera carrera del año y la más importante del año, la que todos quieren ganar, la Daytona 500. Ya el campeonato regular dio un ganador y fue Chase Elliott, piloto del auto 5 Chevy de Hendrick Motorsports, quien sumó 15 puntos extras más para los playoffs, que por fin dará comienzo la próxima semana, además de los puntos que ya logro obtener por ganar las carreras, siendo 4 las que ha logrado, convirtiese así el más ganador de la temporada. El campeonato regular ya está definido, al igual que 15 pilotos ya han logrado su boleto para la postemporada, al lograr al menos un gane en lo que va de año, pero aún queda disponible el último boleto, que hasta el momento está en manos de Ryan Blaney con 25 puntos de ventaja con respecto a su más cercano perseguidor que es Martin Truex Jr. Pero ninguno de estos dos que mencioné está asegurados ya que cualquiera de los pilotos que están afuera de la clasificación y gane esta carrera, lograrán su pase directo.

La razón de esto último es por las características, donde los pilotos deben corren en el draft, saber trabajar en la succión con otros pilotos y si esta se pierde, pues no tendrán ningún chance de éxito, allí radica por qué en esta pista de más de 2.5 millas las carreras son en paquetes, donde todos los pilotos se encuentran juntos, pero el riesgo siempre está en que si alguien comete un error o hay un imperfecto mecánico en algunos de los autos, puede ocasionar un terrible accidente donde quedan involucrados muchos autos, razón por la cual los pilotos juntos a sus equipos deben estar atento a esto, más que todo Truex y Blaney quienes están en la disputo y son realmente los favoritos para uno de ellos pasar a la postemporada.

En casa de un empate entre estos dos pilotos, quien haya tenido mejores resultados en las carreras previas, será quien avance. Los únicos pilotos con posibilidad de entrar por puntos son los ya mencionados, ya que los otros no tienen ningún chance, a menos que ganen algunos de aquellos que estén entre los primeros 30 del campeonato regular. Daytona International Speedway es un óvalo de 2.5 millas, una de las largas en longitud de calendario, además que dispone cuatros curvas, que a su vez contarían como dos pero en un ovalo es así, 4 curvas, más la recta principal que es donde está la línea de meta, pero en muchos cosas y como en Daytona se conoce como triovalo ya que es como una pancita hablándoles coloquialmente. Las curvas tienen una inclinación o peralte de 31 grados, motivo por el cual las carreras son a fondo casi que toda una vuelta, donde los pilotos usan más el acelerador que el freno. Además que esta pista tiene una capacidad para más de 160 mil espectadores y lo más importante es que el evento principal del día domingo siempre se espera una entrada de personas bastante buenas, que en muchos cosas hasta se llega a llenar y si no, púes está bastante cerca. La pista no descasta tanto los neumáticos como otras, los pilotos se deben preocupar más por el combustible y por manejar correctamente, no quedar en un accidente ni cometer errores. Cada uno de los pilotos que aún están peleando la puesta para la postemporada deben estar pendiendo de cada uno de los detalles ya expuestos, si no quieren ver afectada sus aspiraciones de al menos tener la oportunidad de pelear el título 2022 de la NASCAR Cup Series.

Al contrario de la carrera de Febrero, esta son 100 millas menos, es decir, que se corren 160 vueltas en vez las 200. Estos 160 giros están divididos en tres segmentos, donde el primero es a 35 vueltas, el segundo a 60, mientras que el tercero y último es a 65 vueltas para completar la distancia pautada. Otra factor que influye en esta pista son las paradas en los pits, la estrategia, que aquí juego un papel más importante las banderas de precaución, ya que nadie quien entrar solo, ya que así perderían la succión y por ende también la oportunidad de ganar la carrera. En este óvalo la degradación de los neumáticos no es tanto, no es un factor que tenga tanto relevancia, pero claro que los equipos están atentos a los datos y a lo que observan en cada parada, pero el consumo de combustible es aún más importante por los 2.5 millas o un poco más de 4 km de longintud que tiene la pista de Daytona y una vuelta corto implicaría que se quedan varados en medio de la carrera.

El ganador de la pole de año 2021 fue Kyle Larson. Ahora bien dar un claro favorito para esta carrera la verdad que es imposible por el tipo de evento que siempre se dan, donde incluso el equipo más chico tienen oportunidad y esperan estas carreras para obtener buenos resultados y porque no incluso la victoria, que le otorgan más patrocinios para lo largo que es la temporada. Ahora bien si me preguntan a mi creo que Ryan Blaney puede ganar y obtener su pase a los playoffs, ya que cuenta con un auto ford y esto se destacan en estas carrera. El fin de semana da comienzo será el día viernes 26 donde a las 5:05 pm tiempo de Este de los Estados Unidos se estará llevando a cabo directamente la clasificación sin ninguna práctica previa. Esto se debe a que es la segunda carrera del año en este óvalo, entonces de esta manera los equipos tienen una idea de la puesta a punto que deben usar en los autos, además que si mal no recuerdo las carreras en óvalos de 2.5 o más millas no se hacen prácticas, algo que estoy en desacuerdo pero esto se produjo luego de la pandemia por el Covid-19 y para reducir gastos, los organizadores decidieron implementar estos cambios. En el pasado se hacía de 2 o tres prácticas, incluso una cuarta, no importaba si se había corrido o no durante el año, ya que cada carrera es distintas o es muy raro donde se repita el mismo ganador en el año. La carrera como he dicho varias veces es el sábado 27 a las 7:00pm ET, que al contrario de febrero esta carrera va a ser en la noche, lo que la hace aún más espectacular. Espero que no se la pierdan.
