En los primeros días de enero de 2024 dará comienzo uno de los eventos deportivos del deporte motor más importante, como es el exigente Rally Dakar. Esta competencia se llevará a cabo desde el 5 de enero hasta el 19, donde todos los pilotos participantes, darán el todo por llevarse las victorias en unas de las carreras de mayor relevancia e historia dentro del automovilismo. Esta será la cuadragésima sexta edición, con un recorrido bastante interesante, con algunos cambios y la ruta de la competencia que se anunció este año, específicamente en noviembre, y en esta reseña les voy a hablar sobre los detalles de la carrera, como siempre basado en mi opinión personal, pero tomando en cuento datos importantes que no podemos dejar a un lado.
En los últimos 5 años el Dally Dakar se ha estado disputando en Arabia Saudita, luego de varios años estar en nuestra continente, pasando Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay y Perú, siendo una de las competencias del deporte motor mundial que llega a nuestra región. Esta competencia también se ha corrido en el continente africano, Europa y Asia. En esta carrera hay varias categorías, como son coches, motos, camiones y quad, además de darse otras subcategorías que salen de las ya mencionadas. Esta competencia es tan importante que corren pilotos campeones mundiales de otras categorías como Sébastien Loeb y Carlos Sainz, ambos campeones del campeonato mundial de Rally (WRC), y años también participó en bicampeón de la F1, el español Fernando Alonso.
Antes de empezar a desarrollar la reseña sobre la carrera del 2024, es importante saber la diferencia entre el WRC y el Rally. Ambas categorías son de competencias de Rally, donde los pilotos salen desde un punto de salida hasta la meta de llegada y aquel que realice el recorrido en el menor tiempo posible, es declarado el ganador. En las dos también hay competencias por etapas y la suma de estas es que nos da las posiciones en la tabla general de tiempo de todas las carreras. Este evento está a cargo de la ASO (Amaury Sport Organisation), quien es un organismo francés que se encarga de otros eventos importantes como son el Tour de Francia.

Este 2024 el Rally Dakar tendrá un recorrido de 7923 km, donde, 4676 km son de etapas especiales. El total de etapas será de 12, donde el día inicial es el podio de presentación, además del prólogo, que es la etapa que le da comienzo a la competencia. Está casi siempre es un circuito cerrado en la localidad de Al-'Ula. El total del recorrido es de 158 kilómetros con 28 kilómetros de especial. Otro dato importante es que la etapa maratón será de 48 horas como les mencioné anteriormente, algo que no había visto antes y sin lugar a dudas va a ser la etapa más desgastante del toda la competencia, ya que deberán enfrentarse al desierto más inhóspito de nuestro planeta, como es Empty Quarter, lugar que también fue una etapa del Dakar 2023.
El recorrido de esta etapa maratón será de 766 kilómetros, en la cual 532 Km son una especial. Algo que también es inaudito, al igual que la etapa maratón, es el hecho que las diferentes categorías tendrán al parecer un recorrido diferente, por lo cual se complicará aún más esta etapa. Sin lugar a dudas representará un desafío para todos, y tendremos que ver cuál será la estrategia que implementarán los equipos con sus pilotos y copilotos. Algo que me impresionó de esta etapa es el hecho que los pilotos tendrán una parada a las 16:00 hora local de Arabia Saudita, y lo tendrán que hacer en algunos de los campamentos que tendrán en el recorrido, sin tener ninguna comunicación con sus equipos y muchos menos con los mecánicos, tendrá que arreglárselas ellos solos y con la ayuda de los demás equipos que estén en el sitio.
