How was the match?
Atletico Madrid took the initiative and the control of the ball since the beginning. I wasn't expecting this because it is not usual for Atletico to control the possession, but they did just that at the beginning of this match. The entire team was well organized and very focused on trying to score as soon as possible.
Their goal didn't take too long, around the 6-minute mark, Atletico had a corner kick, the ball ended under Lodi's control over the left side, and he made an amazing cross into the area that went directly to Felix's head, and the ball went inside the net with a powerful header. The goal was incredible, a high-quality cross and a high-quality header. The second half started, and Manchester United's midfielders couldn't even make 2 passes in a row. They don't appear to be a functional combination, and without a good midfield, it is almost impossible for a team to work properly. Pogba wasn't even capable of keeping the ball without losing it. It was made very clear this team requires a lot of tactical work but I also suspect some of its players have too much ego that prevents them from accepting their mistakes and shortcomings.

Around the 80 minute mark, Fernandes managed to filter a great pass to Elanga when United was creating a good counterattack. I am sure Manchester United is more than happy with this result, and Atletico Madrid, on the other, probably feels very frustrated. They deserved the victory but they were unable to make it happen on the pitch.
The second match between these 2 teams is in 3 weeks, and as of now, I believe Manchester United is the favorite even though Atletico played better today. The reason for this is because they will be playing in their stadium, Old Trafford, and they will also probably increase their performance.
