Cuando el gato no está en casa, los ratones aprovechan para obtener una medalla o premio en lugar de este. Esto fue lo que pasó ante la lamentable lesión de la fenomenal saltadora venezolana Yulimar Rojas. Al ocurrir el desagradable suceso, el resto de las competidoras deben haberse preparado con el doble de motivación, pues obtener una medalla de oro olímpica en el triple salto mientras Yulimar se mantenga compitiendo, es solo un dulce sueño mientras se duerme calentito en la noche.
Entre los "ratones" que tenían posibilidad de llevarse el título estaba la cubanita Leyanis Pérez, una muchacha de apenas 23 años, que se antoja la cara del triple salto cubano para los próximos años. Un prospecto que desde los pasados Juegos Panamericanos nos dejó bien claro que el legado de las triplistas cubanas no se detiene.

Previo a las Olimpiadas, Leyanis dominaba la liga del Diamante en esta modalidad, los reflectores estaban sobre ella, y los paisanos, ante las condiciones de las que hablamos palabras arriba, creyeron que el Oro(o al menos una medalla) iba a caer en nuestro medallero casi de seguro.
En mi caso vi flaquezas desde el mismo día de la clasificatoria. Algo me decía que la inexperiencia en estas lides, le iba a pasar factura. Los narradores decían que tenía tiempo para rectificar antes de las finales, pero yo estaba casi seguro de que eso no iba a pasar. Me quedé muy triste ante su"mala competencia"al irse finalmente sin medallas. Mala competencia entre comillas, pues no creo que lo haya sido. Simplemente las demás atletas se lo ganaron. Culpo a la prensa y a los directivos al poner una presión innecesaria a la muchacha, que repito, aún le falta madurez deportiva, aunque los resultados que va tendiendo nos hagan creer otra cosa.
Prior to the Olympics, Leyanis dominated the Diamond League in this modality, the spotlight was on her, and the countrymen, given the conditions we talked about above, believed that the Gold (or at least a medal) was going to fall in our medal table almost for sure.
In my case I saw weaknesses from the very day of the qualifiers. Something told me that the inexperience in these matters, was going to take its toll. The narrators said that he had time to rectify before the finals, but I was almost sure that this was not going to happen. I was very saddened by his "bad competition" when he finally left without a medal. Bad competition in quotation marks, because I don't think it was. The other athletes simply earned it. I blame the press and the directors for putting unnecessary pressure on the girl, who I repeat, still lacks sporting maturity, although the results she is getting make us believe otherwise.
Ahora bien. Los descalabros son para crecer, y afortunadamente la vida le dió revancha. Logró hace apenas unos días el título en la final de la Liga del Diamante, despojándose en un gran porciento de lo sufrido en París. En sus redes sociales la vi muy feliz con su premio y en sus declaraciones nos hizo saber (con mis palabras) que no hay mal que por bien no venga, que la única solución ante las caídas es levantarse, sacudirse el polvo y volver a empezar. Sus palabras originales, las siguientes:
"Gracias a Dios por volver a demostrarme que las cosas no son cuando quiera, sino cuando usted diga. Gracias por permitir llevarme a casa este hermoso diamante. Gracias a ustedes por disfrutar cada momento conmigo. Estoy contenta de haber logrado esta victoria, no satisfecha, pero aún queda mucho camino, y puedo decir que lo que se viene para el 2025 es MUCHOOO. Fin de la temporada".
Si bien los resultados fueron bien discretos en esta final, y muchos tal vez se van a agarrar de esta excusa, lo cierto es que debemos recordar el refrán reconvertido que coloqué al principio de la publicación. En esta competencia hay dinero en juego, todos quieren ganar, aún cuando es bien sabido que los resultados después de una Olimpiada merman un poco, y en este caso, Leyanis fue el pequeño ratón que supo aprovechar el momento. No obstante, la muchacha tiene que seguir mejorando sus marcas.

Nevertheless, the girl has to keep improving her marks.
Por mi parte, nada más que decir a la niña, solo que debe aprovechar antes de que Yulimar arranque nuevamente, y cuando esta se incorpore, le pido que mantenga esa hambre de ganar, que no deje de meterle presión a la gigante morocha. A mis paisanos, les pido mucha paciencia, pues el deporte es impredecible en la mayoría de los casos, e incluso los titanes pueden ser derrotados.
