Hive PH Week 3: Ang Star ng Pasko (Caroling Experiences)

WE (8).png

Do you still remember the ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID last year 2009? It is called "Ang Star ng Pasko." This is one of my favorite christmas songs up to now is still very popular. Because I'm a singer, I was selected as one of the lead singers at the head of the line when this song came out when I was in elementary school. Chariz! Confident yern?

So speaking of this song, I have so many memories that I'm very happy to go back to. Up to now, I've been hearing it played for weeks. So that's it, during the times when I went with my younger siblings and my cousins, ang go caroling, I really remember how they left me in the air. Paano ba naman, sila lang yung taga hanap ng bahay na kakantahan namin pero kapag anjan na, hahayaan lang nila ko kumanta mag isa - with matching birit birit pa yan mars. 😣

Over the years, I have observed how the way children pray has evolved. Well, there are still others who still use corks, DIY drums and pot lids. I could tell how Tik Tok plays an important role to these kids behaviour and how does this app made a sudden change to out tradition. Meanwhile the other kids just play karaoke with their little bluetooth speakers and their own cell phones. So these are just some of the ones I served last year, 2021.

During the height of the pandemic, of course, all the policemen became strict, especially here in Manila. But it's also really funny because last year, little by little, everything just came back to normal. It's a bit slight from the previous years but I still felt the spirit of Christmas.

Of course, Christmas is still mixed with sadness from 2020 to 2021 because many families lost their livelihood due to the closure of some companies and not only that, many people also died due to the virus. Maybe if I am asked if the pandemic really has a big impact on our Christmas celebration, the answer is yes, a lot. This pandemic took away some of our happiness, especially back then when we were free to go anywhere and we were free to do what we used to do in public places.

But since it's 2022 and some people don't really believe in the pandemic anymore, I could say that little by little we are able to move on from the events in our lives. and I can see it in the children singing Christmas carols from house to house now every night. As I looked at them, it was as if they didn't know that there was a pandemic. These children are so innocent and it's just fun to watch because they are still reviving the tradition of us Filipinos.

If you ask me, this kind of tradition has not totally disappeared in our country. Maybe we didn't just feel it during the height of the global pandemic but it's still here and alive. For me, this kind of tradition is something we should take care of because if it doesn't last long and disappears forever, maybe our Filipinos won't have a good Christmas.

let's be honest, it's nice to see children on the street holding drums and teaspoons. Well, sometimes it's really annoying, but admit it, you miss them, especially the kids with angelic voices.

So since I am a Santa Claus this Christmas, I prepared some of the candies to give to the children who will be singing Christmas carols at our house. I miss the times when I was always given candies but of course, I am more excited when I receive money.

One of my most memorable caroling experiences was being given 1000 Pesos by one of my wealthy grandmothers. Well she just asked me to sing. At that time I also joined our choir and went to church, I also received large amounts of cash several times but I can say that going with my friends was better, dahil alam nyo na? Pag sa simbahan ako kumanta, para sa Christmas party lang din namin yun, LOL.

Anyways, this will be my entry for the Week 3 Christmas Edition ng HivePH. Kung gusto nyo sumali, join na kayo dali at masaya to! 😇😍😝🤗
