Would you argue if I will tell you now that China is winning another war by avoiding it and not firing a single missile. That perhaps because China is still following advises from one of the best book ever written 2,500 years ago. The Art of War by Sun Tzu.
This book was recommended by a friend to me and I also would like recommend this book to those who wish to learn from the very best war strategy of all time. Although brutal, but this will prepare us on how handle our daily battle in life.
What is "The Art of War"
The Art of War is written more than 2,500 years ago and it was translated to 300 different languages all around the world. Therefore, in my opinion this book "The Art of War" didn’t survived that long just for nothing.
Sun Tzu says in the book that "It is better not to fight than to be involved in a conflict, but if you are going to have to fight, then you have to do it to win". And these are the various strategy, often brutal, but effective, it will always get you that result. He also said that "every battle is won before it is fought".
Sun Tzu translated "The Art of War" which include some stories in China about different war during those early days. Perhaps, it is why China was never really penetrated and occupied by other countries (not even Japan in 2nd World War yet they sacrifice a lot) because they religiously follow the teaching written on this book.
Until today China is avoiding war to win the war, even the U.S. (Mother of All War) provoke them in South China Sea. This is maybe the reason why China has been a mystery for all of us. By using "The Art of War" teaching keep them out of war that made China very unpredictable to other countries especially against the looter of natural resources, the U.S.A.
The Art of War is composed of 13 chapter and in every chapter is a precious lesson which we can apply to win our daily battle in life. Not because we are in a war zone but because Sun Tzu book are applicable in any hardship we facing in life. Those lessons thought us on how do we handle different life situation especially now, we are facing great great depression.
Example of those lesson is “Choose your battle”. Not all battle are in your favor to win, so if you think you cannot win against a certain task then use other lesson like “The best way to win is not to fight at all”. maybe some of you may say, "at least I tried and I didn't winning or losing without trying".
However, if you can't avoid and if you ever confronted in a battle and moving forward is the only choice then “Lay your plans (Plan A, Plan B, Plan C)”. And if you think you are outnumbered then “find the perfect timing” or “have a unique plan so you will be unpredictable by your adversaries”.
All the warfare is base on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable. When we are start to mobilized our forces, we must appear inactive, when we are near, we must make our enemy believed we are still far away, when far away, we must make them believe we are near.
