I hope it's not too late for me to share and express my heartfelt gratitude to those who attended and those who made our Hive Christmas Party - Cebu 2023 a joyous one. A lot of our attendees have already shared their wonderful stories and memorable moments for this event and it was such heartwarming to know they all had fun.
So here goes my version...
Since I, @ybanezkim26 and @intoy.bugoy was from the city, we had to leave around 6am. I was very coscious of getting there on time since it was about 3 hour drive and not knowing the availability of the public buses, I requested my father to drive us to Sacaan Tropical Breeze Resort. We had set our call time at 9am and we arrive just a few minutes after that.
We were the ones who brought the decorations like tarpaulin and balloons so we didn't waste time and proceeded to the Rockview Venue. When I got there, I realized I picked the right place. The view was stunning.
Slowly, the other onboarders and Hivers showed up and helped out with the preparations. Mind you, we just had a very simple design. Nothing fancy as I told everyone there was just no need to have a lot of unneccesary expense. All balloons were leftover from my other parties I have organized. Huge shoutout to @rainebow0407 for the snowflakes decor.
Soon our attendees and guests were arriving. The tables were now filled up. We had everyone register their names so we can keep tab who hasn't arrived and also give them their nametags. The nametags were important for me because I was still not familiar with the faces matching their usernames.
As we were waiting for the final people to arrive, our attendees decided to have an impromptu practice for their impromptu performance. I initially told the onboarders to asked their onboardees to prepare any performance related to Christmas. I know there wasn't much time to prepare but my hopes were high. And so when I was going around greeting the other Hivers, I was half jokingly asking them if they were ready with their presentations. They all smiled at me with questioning eyes? Later on, I think it was @callmesmile who approached me and said they weren't aware. 😆 If I recall, after I announced that our prizes for the performances were the Hive Shirts, they seemed eager and went straight away forming groups, discussing their plan, practicing their moves and songs. I was utterly surprised.
It took them 20-30 minutes to be able to organize their own presentation. When it was around 10:15am, I asked everyone to settle down so we can start the program proper. Our assigned emcee @ciadanmea couldn't attend and so we had @callmesmile stand in for her. Great thing, she was on her toes and took the role pretty well. Can't miss to thank @intoy.bugoy for being our sound tech guy!
We started with a prayer then followed with our roll call with a twist! We asked our participants to strut their Hawaiian attires as we called their names. Well, the winner also gets a prize shirt! I initially thought most of them would be shy and not do it so I volunteered to go first to show them how its done and just to add some flavor. After that, everyone followed, walking with confidence, doing their own gimmicks, and flaunting their dress, attire, and beauty.
Our judge was none other than @ybanezkim26. For sure he had a hard time picking a winner. Or maybe not?!

As you can see with all our big smiles and laughs, who would have thought a mini fashion show would bring us so much fun!
This was then followed with an opening remarks by @ybanezkim26 followed with a few games prepared by our game masters @heyitsjian and @iamgagz09. Everyone was eager to join so they can have the first dibs of the prizes.
We then had our first 2 performances. The first group showcased an energetic dance. They danced well. I was actually amazed to witness that they can create a short dance in also a short amount of time given. They definitely gave their all so they can win the shirts!
Frist Group Performance:
What I appreciated about this performance was they also had fun themselves dancing. And they sang a christmas carol at the end. I found them too cute.
Second Group Performance:
They purely relied on chanting and singing christmas songs/carols with matching choreography and formations! I found their performance was full on high energy!
Third Group Performance:
Some singing, chanting, and dancing for this group of ladies! The end part was fun! And we love that they have their sunglasses as props!
Fourth Group Performance:
A memorable group because of their unique chant, bisaya christmas carol with matching choreography! They didn't rely on any music but just their lovely voices, confidence, and beautiful faces!
It was a tough competition! They were all good despite it just being an on the spot practice for all participants. I'm not sure about you but I feel lucky to be part of this small community we have nurtured with members who always go an extra mile to cooperate, support, and give their best.
We continued with several games! We had statue dance that took so much time as everyone seemed to be so good at not making a move when the music stops and so we figured to take it up a notch and had the remaining players do the Hip Hip Hooray game.
We then continued with the most memorable game for me - the TRIP TO JERUSALEM. Yes, this is a child's game but it could also be fun especially for the adults when you add some twists to it. I decided to join in just to add more laughs for everyone but sitting on someone's lap when its time to take a seat.
And literally the first person I jumped onto her lap was @rhianmaker and it sure did shock her! I shouldn't have done that. I totally forgot how skinny she was compared to me. 😂
And my second victim was @netswriting.
We also had the YES/NO game. Not sure about the mechanics but they seemed to enjoy it too.
