In the Philippines, it is a long-standing tradition to celebrate the annual fiesta of our patron saint. In Caduawan, Tabogon, Northern Cebu, Philippines, we celebrate the Mother of Perpetual Help every year on the last Saturday of October. This year, the celebration falls on the 28th of this month. Fiesta is our way of giving thanks to our patron saint for all the blessings we have received throughout the year. We prepare a lot for this event and it is a significant part of our culture. Join me as I head to Bogo City to purchase some additional items for the upcoming fiesta preparations at home.

My first errand for the day is to have a tarpaulin printed. The artist provided me with an impressive design on the tarpaulin I had printed. This is a 3x7 tarpaulin for 270 pesos. This tarpaulin will be used to adorn our dining table during our fiesta dinner, which is the first task I completed today here in Bogo City, Northern Cebu, Philippines. I enjoy designing the dining table, especially for special occasions and celebrations, as it adds more life and decoration to the setting. I’ll add some party curtains to add more life. Let’s see what my design will turn out a few days from now.

Outside the store where we had our tarpaulin created, my son was thrilled to find a motorcycle looking exactly like ours. He had to take a photo in both the motorcylces. Left motorcycle is ours and the right motorcycle is from a random customer as well. Our motorcycle is a matte blue Honda Click 150.

We then went to J and L Shopping Center it is the newest shopping center here in Bogo City, and it is somewhat similar to Unitop in Colon, Cebu City. The prices are indeed affordable and there are a lot of options to choose from.

Children will indeed enjoy it here because they have a mini arcade and some rides they will surely enjoy. Too bad my son does not enjoy these types of rides anymore because he feels like a young man already. He does not like to play with much anymore. He struck a pose and we then went in the shopping center.

First order of business, I bought some bulbs because our comfort and living room bulbs were misfunctioning. I had to secure new ones.

The Christmas spirit is present all over the mall, with decorations and lights adorning every corner. The holiday season truly brings immense joy and happiness. I took the escalator up to the second floor.

I was about to buy such sleeping mats when I saw these other ones with foam. It was buy one take one as well so I bought one set. During fiestas, we have a lot of visitors who will sleep over at our house, although we have four beds and one sofa bed, still it is not enough for everyone, so I had to buy more foam mattresses.

I bought one set of this because it was sold as buy one, take one. I also bought a set of broom and dust pan.

We then headed to the counter and the things we bought. My son got hungry so he told me if we could grab lunch at his favorite fast food chain.

As a working mom, I rarely get chances of spending time with my son so as soon as I get the chance to do so, I always do. One of our favorite bonding moments is to eat out. Cravings satisfied for this little man. After we had lunch, we then headed home.

Just in time when we arrived, the tables we rented were delivered, we then assembled it.

After assembling the tables we rented, then went to our family friend’s house to weigh the pigs we will buy for the upcoming fiesta. We will buy these three cute pigs. Two of them are for our fiesta dinner and one for my grandmother’s birthday on the day after the fiesta which is the twenty-ninth of October.

What I enjoy most about the fiesta is the unity it brings among our friends and family. Our house becomes the meeting place for all my aunts, uncles, and cousins, who come to celebrate with us. We make extensive preparations for this special occasion, including providing a new mattress for our guests to sleep comfortably during their stay with us. Additionally, we prepare delicious food to serve during the fiesta. Our pigs are ready, can’t wait to eat lechon! Yum!

The owner of the pigs apologized because they were not able to wash the pigs the moment we went there, and of course, that’s fine. We all have those days when we don’t feel like taking a bath. Lol. They would make a good lechon regardless! HAHAHAHA
I then went home and took a nap.

After almost two hours of sleep, my son woke me up. He wanted to go out and check out the stalls outside.

My son struck a pose on the fund-raising tarpaulin we participated on. Our barangay was filled with these fundraising tarpaulins which were greetings from almost all the households here in our place.

We went into the streets to check what the stalls were selling and of course there were a lot of options to choose from. There were different snacks, barbeque, liquor, toys, accesories and some fruits as well. The fiesta spirit is indeed alive.

I found my college friend ate Razel. She is a Muslim, and she is one of the vendors on the street. She was building her store, and I was amazed to see her here in our place, Caduawan, Tabogon, Northern Cebu, Philippines. She then struck a pose with my son, Jacob. During my college days, ate Razel helped me take care of Jacob everytime I bring him to school with me. She is indeed one of the people closest to my heart. It was really good to see her.

There was also a mini fair in our barangay. There was also a trampaulin where children could jump around for ten minutes for twenty pesos. There is just so much fun around the place and what a happy fiesta it is indeed!

I am thrilled for the upcoming days. Can’t wait to share our fiesta celebration with you all, soon! What a happy day indeed! Ciao!☺︎♡
