Buwan ng Wika" Writing Contest Theme: What Value Can Filipinos Bring on Hive?

Well, I should be writing in Filipino for the essence of Buwan ng Wika and also to exercise my Mother Tongue but I will use the excuse that we are not only Filipinos here. Hehe...

What makes a Filipino a good Filipino?

There are a lot of good traits one can see in a Filipino, of course aside from having good looks and to die for voices. Filipinos are a package deal if I must say. But kidding aside, if I think of Filipinos' greatest trait, it would be Resiliency.

The ability to easily bounce back from tragedies is a great trait one could hope to have. Imagine the country of the Philippines with not-so-great technology that is being hit with dozens of calamities in a year and yet here we are still standing strong. How? Why? A mind boggling question, right? Yet the answer is simple, because we are resilient. We always find a way to have a smile on our faces and a reason to move forward.

It is sometimes romanticized as Filipinos being happy-go-lucky. But for me, it is a way for us to see beyond. That we already accepted the fact that we will have to face hardships in life and probably fall deep but it would be okay because we also knew that we can stand up again.

In our today's generation, making mistakes is inevitable. And as my mom's favorite saying: mistakes remain mistakes when you don't learn from them. One way or another you will commit mistakes, face hardships and drown in sorrows but there's no way out of it other than to move forward.

Everything in our lives is a constant process of building and rebuilding. And as my mantra in life: No one is best forever. You may be the best today but not tomorrow. What I am saying is the natural ingredient in success is being able to cope. And that's why you can see successful Filipinos popping up everywhere like mushrooms.
