An Intern's First Words From Her Boss

One one night, a 4th year college girl was resting peacefully in her dormitory, not having any idea what would have come to her the next day.

While getting cozy in her bed, she received a message from their teacher at 10 p.m. in their group chat, announcing that tomorrow will be their internship orientation. And immediately after that orientation, they will be deployed.

The college girl's cozy night became a crazy one instantly! She did not expect it to be so soon because there were no updates from that teacher for the past days. But, what can she do? She was a prisoner of the education system that controls the course of action of their lives.

Morning came and she prepared for the orientation. The orientation weren't that much, just reminders that didn't need to be reminded to her. They announced then that she will be doing her internship at an audit office for the government.

Without much ado, they all went directly to the office. She waited for her soon-to-be boss. A moment passed by and her team arrived and told her to follow them on their cubicle. She was told that their team leader would have a little word with her. Of course, she felt nervous but went to her boss anyway.

She thought she'd be quizzed or even interrogated but her team leader seemed to be a chill boss that does not get mad to his team.

And the first thing that the team leader to the intern was actually . . . all about confidentiality.

The intern was strictly advised that everything she sees, hears and reads in the office would stay in the office. Every information in an audit is all confidential. Any outsider is not given the right to know anything about it.

It was at that moment the intern felt like she was really privileged to be able to see how government transactions are being audited. At the same time, she felt that she carries a big responsibility even though she was just an intern.

Confidentiality has always been taught to the intern along the Code of Ethics. Information about an entity is not allowed to be disseminated and should be treated with privacy. The intern realized how important are these concepts as she will be applying it to her work.

This also reminds us that some things are really confidential even without explicitly saying it.

We should have a discerning eye and careful mind to determine if something should remain private or not. How we treat an information says a lot about our personality and integrity. Being able to keep quiet on things says that should stay proves that we are someone who knows how to respect. We should be someone who is considerate snd tactful.
