Hello mga ka-Hive. How are you all? I hope you are all doing well. August is about to end and we are entering to "ber" months. How was your August thus far? Today, I will share to you one of this year's Cebu trips.

This happened on June of this year. I traveled to Cebu City for a very important appointment. I woke up early as my appointment was scheduled at 9 in the morning. I arrived at the city at 7am and went to the convenient store across the North bus terminal for a quick breakfast. I only had yoghurt juice and an onigiri. I took a a jeep to take me to my appointment right after I finished my food.

It ended quickly and it was too early to go home. Aside from that, I don’t feel like going home yet. I needed to somehow make the most out of my visit in Cebu. After some time of thinking, I decided to roam around SM City Cebu since it is just a few minute walk to the north bus terminal.

With my air pods in my ears and some good music, I window shopped. My budget was limited thus, I just checked and eyeing some items at every stores I visited to especially at Decathlon. As an active woman, visiting Decathlon is a must. This is what I usually do when I was still living in the city and when boredom hits me. A stroll at the mall and spend time at café shop with a book are the cure.

My growling tummy signaled me that it was already time for lunch. After some time of thinking, my feet brought me to a Korean restaurant called Itaewon Korean Street Food and Beverages. Itaewon is one of the busiest and most lively places of Korea. Timely, I was up for Korean cuisine.

It was my second time at the restaurant and it still gave me the feeling of amusement with their minimalistic and aesthetic interior. It is as if the place is not inside the mall.

I just ordered bibimbap and a corndog. Their menu is a bit pricey. My order already costed me 400 pesos. I devoured my lunch while jamming to BTS’s songs. While eating, I thought of watching a movie at the cinema. It was the height of the movie “Inside Out 2” and would love to watch it on the big screen. I remembered my cousin who was studying and having her internship at that time at Cebu City. I wanted to see her as I had not seen her in a while and watch the movie with her.

I pinged her through messenger and invited her to watch Inside Out 2 with me. She suggested “How to earn millions before grandma dies” movie as the ticket is affordable compared to inside out 2. I have heard good feedbacks about the movie specifically how it would bring you to tears. So I agreed.

She will be available at 5pm thus, I chose the 5:45pm schedule.

And the ticket was secured.

While waiting, I spent the time at Krispy Kreme since Bo’s coffee was full. I would love myself some caffeine and a dessert. As usual, I had matcha and their new variant doughnut. I honestly did not like the doughnut as it had a bitter aftertaste caused by the burnt glaze. But nonetheless, I still finished it.

Around 5 in the afternoon, I walked to the cinema lobby and waited for the schedule and my cousin. She arrived 5 minutes before the schedule and we hurriedly went inside the cinema. Minutes later, the movie started.

We took a picture before the movie began.

Disclaimer: A little spoiler ahead.

The story is all about a grandson who purposely stopped working to take care of her grandma who has cancer. His goal is to be the heir of his grandma’s properties when she dies. He got this idea when his cousin received an inheritance from her grandfather. She was his only caregiver. His grandmother has 2 sons and a daughter. The eldest, his uncle, has his own family, second son, other uncle, is jobless and has been chased by loan sharks while the youngest (grandson’s mother) is widowed and working in a supermarket.

Unfortunately, no one could fully take care of his grandmother. First step to his hidden agenda is to stay at her house and took care of her. He accompanies her in her hospital visits for chemotherapy, helps her in selling food every morning, takes her to the bank and other things. Thinking that doing all of those will put him to the top spot on the list of heirs. Surpassing his uncles even his mother.

As day passed by, they build a bond and a close relationship. The grandmother was thankful of his assistance and presence.

And I will just stop there.

Do you think he would get the inheritance?

It is for you to find out.

The movie will be on Netflix this September and I highly recommend you to watch it. Its plot twist will definitely tear you.

It is a 2 hour long movie and the first half got us all laughing until unknowingly, tears were starting to fall towards the end. It was a tear jerker film. We were warned about it through Tiktok but we did not buy a tissue. So we used our hands to wipe our tears. It was very relatable to me and my cousin due to our grandmother who is almost 80 years old.

An hour after, the movie ended and the lights went on. All of the movie watchers including us got puffy eyes and all were sniffing. Those were the effect of the film. We then had our dinner at S&R and went home after.

Moral of the movie: It taught me to genuinely take care and love our grandparents without expecting anything in return. And to always cherish their remaining years in the world. Seniors do need extensive care. Unlike us, their energy has depleted and greatly need our assistance. Please be more patient and widen your understanding. Please do not forget that as we grow older so are they. Thus, always check up on them and all the more, treasure them.

And I greatly appreciate my grandmother for being our guardian when mama died and for being our support system. I hope and pray that she still lives longer so that she could still witness our milestones in life.
