Greetings, dear community! Wishing you a happy weekend, today I want to share my Friday photoblog with you! It turns out that I had to go back to the Faculty to sign the project of one of my students. I didn't feel like going out but I took advantage of the moment to take a few photos that I wanted to share with you and an unexpected celebration that came up. So, without further delay, let's begin!
Saludos apreciada comunidad! Deseándoles un feliz fin de semana hoy quiero compartirles mi fotoblog del Viernes! Resulta que tuve que ir nuevamente a la Facultad a firmar el proyecto de una de mis estudiantes, no tenía ganas de salir pero aproveché el momento para tomar unas cuantas fotos que quería compartir con ustedes y una celebración inesperada que surgió. The day started brightly and with a partially cloudy sky, that intense blue color that reminds us of summer beaches is still present, I will enjoy it as much as I can since the rains of this last quarter of the year will soon begin. Once I finished my coffee I headed to the University.
El día comenzó radiante y con cielo parcialmente nublado, ese intenso color azul que recuerda a los veranos playeros todavía esta presente, lo disfrutaré tanto como pueda ya que pronto comenzarán las lluvias de este último trimestre del año. Una vez que terminé mi café me dirigí camino a la Universidad.

We left the car in a parking lot near the entrance of Ciudad Universitaria to walk to the Faculty which is on the other side of the entrance, it is a somewhat long walk but I enjoy it because there I have the opportunity to find plants and flowers that stand out for their beauty.
Dejamos el auto en un estacionamiento cerca de la entrada de Ciudad Universitaria para ir caminando hasta la Facultad que esta al otro lado de la entrada, es una caminata un tanto larga pero la disfruto porque alli tengo la oportunidad de encontrarme con plantas y flores que destacan por su belleza.

The city of Caracas, in its constant entropy, finds itself engaged in a perennial struggle between the overwhelming urbanism of these times and nature, which finds in every crack, every corner or projection an opportunity to flourish. From a simple herb to a flower or a large tree that raises the sidewalks, it is a manifesto of nature to make itself felt.
La Ciudad de Caracas en su constante entropía se encuentra enzarzada en una lucha perenne entre el urbanismo avasallante de estos tiempos y la naturaleza que encuentra en cada grieta, cada esquina o saliente una oportunidad para florecer. Desde una simple hierba hasta una flor o un gran árbol que levanta las aceras, es un manifiesto de la naturaleza para hacerse sentir.

Precisely these walks through the city, its streets and corners are motivating me to do a series about this struggle of Nature against the dictatorship of asphalt and concrete. For now, I hope that my dear hive girls: @alicia2022 and @sacra enjoy these flowers that resist being obliterated by the chaos of the City.
Precisamente estos paseos por la ciudad, sus calles y sus esquinas me esta motivando hacer una serie, sobre esa lucha de la Naturaleza contra la dictadura del asfalto y el concreto. Por ahora espero que mis estimadas chicas de hive: @alicia2022 y @sacra disfruten de estas flores que se resisten a ser obliteradas por el caos de la Ciudad.

A few steps from reaching the Faculty I came across these beauties. Here it is interesting to see what happens because the Faculty of Sciences seems to find the perfect symbiosis between brick and nature, there are no hostilities between them, that is why my faculty has so many squares where different species of plants grow.
A unos pocos pasos de llegar a la Facultad me encontré con estas bellezas. Aquí es interesante ver lo que sucede pues la Facultad de Ciencias parece encontrar la simbiosis perfecta entre el ladrillo y la naturaleza, no hay hostilidades entre ellas por eso mi facultad tiene tantas plazas donde crecen distintas especies de vegetales.

As I imagined, signing my student's project didn't take more than 10 minutes, so I continued my walk and couldn't stop photographing the great Taparón or Cannonball. I had already shared photos of this "evergreen" tree but I had never seen it flowering. This species is native to the Guyanese region and do not confuse its fruit with the tapara, they have an unpleasant smell which is why it is known as Stinky Coco.
Como imaginé firmar el proyecto de mi estudiante no paso de los 10 minutos, así que continué mi caminata y no podía dejar de fotografiar el gran Taparón o Bala de Cañón, ya había compartido fotos de este árbol "siempre verde" pero nunca lo había visto floreando. Esta especie es originaria de la región guayanesa y no confundir su fruto con la tapara, tienen un olor desagradable por lo que se le conoce como Coco Hediondo.

Then I went to the Institute of Zoology and Tropical Ecology, the rains have noticeably filled the pond that acts as a mirror reflecting the blue sky. This photoblog would have ended here, friends, but then an unexpected invitation arrived and it turns out that the day before was the day of the dentist!
Luego me acerque al Instituto de Zoología y Ecología Tropical las lluvias han llenado notablemente el estanque que actúa como espejo reflejando el cielo azul. Hasta aquí habría llegado este fotoblog amigos pero entonces una invitación inesperada llegó y es que resulta que un día antes se celebró el día del odontólogo!

It turns out that one of our students in the laboratory is a dentist and wanted to celebrate this day with us as a way to close a stage because this coming week she will present her doctoral thesis, which of course we will attend.
Resulta que una de nuestras estudiantes del laboratorio es Odontóloga y quería celebrar con nosotros este día como una manera de cerrar una etapa pues esta semana que viene presentará su tesis doctoral en el que por supuesto estaremos.

As you can see in the photos, the celebration was in style! There was chorizo, blood sausage, manchego cheese, serrano ham and cream cheese. I started with some tapas, I haven't had something so good for a long time!
Como pueden ver las fotos la celebración fue por todo lo alto! Había chorizo, morcilla, queso manchego, jamón serrano y queso crema. Yo comencé con unas tapas que hacía tiempo no comía algo tan bueno!

The drinks were also the order of the day! An excellent bottle of San Simón red wine brought by a colleague from the lab and it was a great companion for the occasion, while my tutor brought a bottle of Pizco in the shape of a Moai and well, I'm not surprised since she's from Chile, but I didn't try this drink.
Las bebidas estaban a la orden del día tambien! Una excelente botella de vino tinto San Simón que trajo un colega del laboratorio y que vino de lujo para acompañar el momento, mientras que mi tutora trajo una botella de Pizco con la forma de Moái y bueno no me extraño ya que ella es de Chile, pero esta bebida si que no la probé.

Well, friends, that's how we ended our day. It was a joy that this trip didn't end with just signing a document and going home, in the end providence had more plans for me this weekend and I really enjoy sharing these moments with you. Bien amigos, así terminamos nuestro día. Fue una alegría que ese viaje no terminara en simplemente firmar un documento y volver a casa, al final la providencia tenia más planes para mi este fin de semana y disfruto mucho compartir estos momentos con ustedes.
