Me gusta mucho trabajar en método tradicional. De hecho, así fue como aprendí a dibujar: con lápiz, papel y tinta china.
Luego, los materiales se fueron poniendo cada vez más costosos y difíciles de conseguir. Esta fue una de las razones por las que migré al arte digital.
No fue nada fácil adaptarme al principio. Ya hoy día, me siento totalmente cómoda dibujando en digital.
Sin embargo, siempre se extraña trabajar en métodos tradicionales.
Una ilustración que hice en método tradicional fue una fanart de Sephiroth, personaje del videojuego Final Fantasy VII.
Sephiroth ha sido uno de mis personajes favoritos en los videojuegos. Más allá del diseño de personaje tan atractivo que le da un aire de guerrero con un toque etéreo, tiene un desarrollo muy interesante.
Él no comienza siendo un villano, por el contrario, era un guerrero de élite, un Soldado. Sus habilidades y destrezas lo convertían en uno de los mejores de su grupo.
Sin embargo, al enterarse de todo el oscuro secreto que encierra su origen, Sephiroth se convierte en el enemigo de la humanidad, esa a la que estaba protegiendo.
Me gustan mucho los personajes villanos con propósito. No es algo como que amaneció un día de mal humor detestando a la humanidad y se volvió un malvado. Hay una razón o un motivo que lo hace decepcionarse tanto de lo que era su mundo, que decide ir contra él.
Eso hace que se cree cierto grado de empatía con el villano, quien no solamente está ahí para hacerle la vida imposible al héroe, sino que está buscando su propia reivindicación y su lugar perdido en el mundo.
Sephiroth se convierte en un poderoso enemigo al que Cloud deberá enfrentar y que está dispuesto a lo que sea para llevar a cabo su venganza (recordemos la escena de Aerith).
Esta ilustración la realicé durante mis horas de almuerzo en el trabajo. Iba avanzando poco a poco todos los días. La hice en papel de hilo usando lápices graduados.
Les debo en esta oportunidad, fotos del proceso. Sé que tengo varias, pero no recuerdo en cuál de los discos están guardadas. Se las compartiré en otro post cuando las encuentre.

I really enjoy working in the traditional method. In fact, that's how I learned to draw: with pencil, paper, and India ink.

However, I always miss working in traditional methods.
One of the illustrations I did in the traditional method was a fanart of Sephiroth, a character from the video game Final Fantasy VII.
Sephiroth has been one of my favorite characters in video games. Beyond the character's attractive design, giving him a warrior-like yet ethereal touch, he has a very interesting development.
He didn't start as a villain; on the contrary, he was an elite warrior, a Soldier. His skills and abilities made him one of the best in his group.
However, upon learning the dark secret of his origin, Sephiroth becomes the enemy of humanity, the very humanity he was protecting.
I really like villains with purpose. It's not like they woke up one day in a bad mood hating humanity and became evil. There's a reason or a motive that makes them so disappointed in what was their world, that they decide to go against it.
This creates a certain degree of empathy with the villain, who is not only there to make the hero's life impossible, but is also seeking their own redemption and their lost place in the world.
Sephiroth becomes a powerful enemy that Cloud must face, and who is willing to do whatever it takes to carry out his revenge (let's remember the scene with Aerith).
I made this illustration during my lunch hours at work. I was making progress little by little every day. I did it on laid paper using graded pencils.
Unfortunately, I owe you photos of the process on this occasion. I know I have several, but I don't remember which disk they are stored on. I will share them in another post when I find them.
