Ya que he estado practicando mucho el estilo anime y el cell shading, necesitaba practicar soft shading para equilibrar y mantener la práctica con ambos estilos.

Quería trabajar con Brando pero después de varios intentos, no lo logré. A veces pienso que los personajes deciden cuándo quieren colaborar y cuándo no, y definitivamente, ¡él no quería participar en el experimento!
Preparé el boceto bastante apegado al diseño original. Para los colores, utilicé los mismos del anime como base y a partir de allí jugaría con los tonos para dar las luces y sombras.
Por lo general, cuando trabajo retratos, hago todo en una sola capa empezando por los ojos, luego el rostro, cabello y cuerpo. Esta vez trabajé de manera diferente, colocando todos los colores base por capas separadas.
Lo que más me tomó tiempo fue definir la forma de su rostro y nariz, ya que tiene la cara alargada y la nariz un tanto respingada. No tenía referencias para guiarme así que me tocó hacer la interpretación de memoria. No es lo ideal, pero no me iba a detener por la falta de la referencia.
El cabello fue la parte que más me gustó trabajar. Después de definir la forma de los mechones, coloqué los colores oscuros para dar volumen y luego trabajé el brillo.
Antes de trabajar el fondo, hice ajustes en su barbilla y su boca, ya que estaba muy pequeña con respecto a su rostro.
Ya para el fondo, trabajé el escenario de su puesto de trabajo al frente de la nave espacial.
Una vez concluido, pensé que podría usar un tono más oscuro para definir su nariz y su ropa. A veces es difícil encontrar ese punto donde uno pueda decir que ya el trabajo está concluido. Siempre habrá cosas que se pueden corregir, mejorar o cambiar.

I prepared the sketch quite close to the original design. For the colors, I used the same ones from the anime as a base and from there I would play with the tones to give the lights and shadows.
Usually when I do portraits I do everything in one layer starting with the eyes, then the face, hair and body. This time I worked differently, placing all the base colors on separate layers.
What took me the longest was to define the shape of his face and nose, since he has a long face and a somewhat upturned nose. I had no references to guide me so I had to do the interpretation from memory. Not ideal, but I wasn't going to stop for the lack of the reference.
The hair was the part that I liked working the most. After defining the shape of the strands, I put the dark colors to give volume and then I worked the shine.
Before working on the background, I made adjustments to her chin and mouth, as it was too small for her face.
For the background, I worked on the scenario of his job at the front of the spaceship.
Once finished, I thought I could use a darker shade to define his nose and clothing. Sometimes it is difficult to find that point where one can say that the work is finished. There will always be things that can be corrected, improved or changed.
