Durante toda la serie, se ve a los diferentes miembros de la tripulación del Gran Dragón del Espacio, vestir el uniforme completo incluyendo su casco.
Pete Richardson sólo lo usa una vez en un capítulo. Nunca se le ve usarlo cuando está piloteando la nave, así que quise hacer esta vez un retrato de él usándolo.
Mientras lo dibujaba, me preguntaba por qué no lo usaba si es el capitán de la nave y aunque sea muy diestro, el peligro de resultar lastimado durante algún ataque está siempre presente. De hecho, en más de una ocasión, es arrojado de su puesto con el impacto de los ataques de los enemigos.
Trabajé durante muchos años en un área donde la seguridad personal era una de las prioridades, sobre todo cuando se trabajaba en obras de construcción y había que estar supervisando que el personal usara todos sus implementos de seguridad constantemente. Así que no puedo evitar pensar en eso, aunque sea un dibujo o una escena de anime.
Después de dibujarlo, pensé que podría haber sido un tema de estética o tal vez porque dibujar ese casco es bastante trabajoso y ya tener que dibujar a Brando en las escenas de combate debe haberles quitado mucho tiempo a los animadores.
Para esta ilustración, hice una mezcla entre el estilo de anime old school y un sombreado similar al estilo moderno. Me gusta mucho lo vistoso de las paletas de colores que usaban en esos anime. ¡Les daba mucha vida a las escenas!

Throughout the series, the different members of the crew of the Great Space Dragon are seen wearing the full uniform including their helmet.
Pete Richardson only uses it once in a chapter. You never see him use it when he's piloting the ship, so I wanted to do a portrait of him using it this time.
While drawing it, I was wondering why he didn't use it if he is the captain of the ship and even if he is very skilled, the danger of getting hurt during an attack is always present. In fact, on more than one occasion, he is thrown from his post with the impact of enemy attacks.
I worked for many years in an area where personal safety was one of the priorities, especially when working on construction sites and you had to constantly monitor that the staff used all their safety equipment. So I can't help but think about it, even if it's a drawing or an anime scene.
After drawing it, I thought it might have been a matter of aesthetics or maybe because drawing that helmet is quite laborious and already having to draw Brando in the combat scenes must have taken up a lot of time for the animators.
For this illustration, I made a mix between the old school anime style and a shading similar to the modern style. I really like the showiness of the color palettes they used in those anime. It brought a lot of life to the scenes!
