Today is #TBT Thursday! A special day to share stories of moments that have been important in our lives, which have left us filled with learning, fun, or gratitude. My memory today is not so old; in fact, it is from last Holy Week, a couple of months ago. Why is it so important? Because that day I had an experience that I had wanted to participate in since I was a child, and I am referring to the procession of the Nazarene of Saint Paul in the city of Caracas.

隆Hoy es Jueves de #TBT!. D铆a especial para compartir historias de momentos que han sido importantes en nuestras vidas, el cual nos han dejado llenos de aprendizaje, diversi贸n o gratitud. Mi recuerdo de hoy no es tan antiguo, de hecho es de la 煤ltima Semana Santa, hace un par de meses. 驴Por qu茅 es tan importante?, porque ese d铆a viv铆 una experiencia en la que quise participar desde que era un ni帽o, y me refiero a vivir la procesi贸n del Nazareno de San Pablo en la ciudad de Caracas.

The video I am sharing above and the photographs are from Holy Wednesday in 2025. Throughout Venezuela, there are various Catholic celebrations that move many people, although I believe there are three in particular that draw massive crowds: the Virgen de la Chinita in Zulia, La Divina Pastora in Lara, and the Nazareno de San Pablo in Caracas, the only one that mobilizes people from all over the country exclusively during Holy Week. Many devotees attribute their miracles or favors granted to the Nazareno, and this image represents something very special to them, so a massive and beautiful procession is held that lasts for many hours.

El video que les comparto arriba y las fotograf铆as son del Mi茅rcoles Santo de 2025. En toda Venezuela hay diversas celebraciones cat贸licas que mueven a muchas personas, aunque creo que hay tres en particular que tienen una convocatoria masiva, que ser铆a la Virgen de la Chinita en Zulia, La Divina Pastora en Lara y el Nazareno de San Pablo en Caracas, la 煤nica que moviliza a personas de todo el pa铆s exclusivamente en Semana Santa. Hay muchos devotos que atribuyen sus milagros o favores concedidos al Nazareno, y esta imagen representa para ellos algo muy especial, as铆 que se hace una procesi贸n masiva y hermosa que dura muchas horas.
I don't know if all Catholics understand religious images the same way I do. My education has taught me that these images are only an artistic representation of something divine, which we have never seen, but we feel. It's like a photograph of a deceased family member. We look at the photo and remember them, sometimes even kissing the photo, but we know that it's not the person, it's just a photo. Religious images greatly disturb people who do not share the same faith, and in fact it is possible that within the Catholic religion itself there are people who venerate an image, but I see it differently, and I understand that that image is not Jesus, but it does not bother me to be there, gathered among so many people who energetically make me feel the presence of God.
No s茅 si todos los cat贸licos entienden esto de las im谩genes religiosas igual que yo. La misma educaci贸n me ha hecho entender que estas im谩genes solo son una representaci贸n art铆stica de algo divino, lo cual nunca hemos visto, pero lo sentimos. Es como la fotograf铆a de un familiar que ha fallecido, vemos la foto y lo recordamos, a veces hasta besamos la foto, pero sabemos que no es la persona, solo es una foto. Las im谩genes religiosas molestan mucho a las personas que no tienen la misma fe, y de hecho s铆 es posible que dentro de la misma religi贸n cat贸lica haya personas que veneren una imagen, pero yo lo veo de esta otra manera, y entiendo que esa imagen no es Jes煤s, pero no me molesta estar ah铆, reunido entre tantas personas que en茅rgicamente me hacen sentir la presencia de Dios.
The number of people in attendance was impressive; many areas of downtown Caracas were packed, and I don't know how I ended up so close to the stage where the mass was held. This moment moved me deeply. I always wanted to know why it was so special for all Venezuelans, but being there, alone, among so many people with the same quest as me, made me feel the power, even the power of the image itself. Even though it is not God, for many years the people have placed enormous faith in everything related to the Nazarene of San Pablo. It was better than I expected, and I needed to experience that moment, that reunion with God that renewed me once again. Since my father's death, many things have changed in my life, but it is impossible to doubt my faith, because that is where everything comes from: health, work, love... Life... No matter how we see it, what name we give it, what religion it is, no, what matters is connecting with the source, that energy that we all feel and that many of us call God 馃檹
La cantidad de personas asistentes fue impresionante, muchas zonas del centro de Caracas estaban llenas, y no s茅 c贸mo llegu茅 a estar tan cerca de la tarima donde se celebr贸 la misa. Energ茅ticamente me movi贸 mucho este momento, siempre quise saber por qu茅 era tan especial para todos los venezolanos, pero estar ah铆, solo, entre tantas personas con la misma b煤squeda que ten铆a yo me hizo sentir la fuerza, incluso la fuerza de la misma imagen, y es que aunque no sea Dios han sido much铆simos a帽os en que el mismo pueblo va depositando una fe enorme en todo lo referente al Nazareno de San Pablo. Fue mejor de lo que esperaba, y necesitaba vivir ese momento, ese reencuentro con Dios que me renov贸 una vez m谩s, y es que desde la muerte de mi pap谩 muchas cosas han cambiado en mi vida, pero es imposible dudar de mi fe, porque de ah铆 viene todo, la salud, el trabajo, el amor... La vida... No importa como lo veamos, qu茅 nombre le pongamos, la religi贸n que sea, no, lo que importa es conectar con la fuente, esa energ铆a que todos sentimos y que muchos llamamos Dios 馃檹
