Opened in 1906, Tooting Bec lido in south London is both one of the oldest open air pools and the largest pool by surface area in the UK.
After a lengthy closure, a lot of work has recently been completed to upgrade the systems maintaining the pool as well as adding modern changing facilities and a cafe.
What's more, 250 free tickets to the lido are available to residents as part of the local council’s commitment to help people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
Seen above is the most recent entrance with its retro industrial design.
Despite the original agreed plans for the Lido to be that of seclusion, this quirky entrance design was approved, I quite like it to be honest!
It was decided that this new entrance would be added at the shallow end for safety reasons and over time would eventually be hidden by newly planted trees and shrubbery to conceal the location.
Seen above is a new pathway to the upgraded original entrance and the new and improved facilities from a birds eye perspective.
The Lido was closed in 1990 due to reallocation of funding from the council. A private swimming club took over operations until 1999 when the council continued to invest in the venue.
