I hope you are very well, I am well, within the limits of course, currently in the atmosphere of my country, there is fear and tension in the street, not because of the protests or because it will generate a problem in the street, but because the government regime that stole the elections, is now chasing all people (mostly influencers) who publish in networks, stories or WhatsApp statuses, things against the government, or videos of what is happening in Venezuela. I tell you, so that you know every time you read the introduction of my post, how the situation in my country is going, unfortunately we are going from bad to worse in repression.

But well, I really hope that this nightmare will end at some point. However, this time I want to comment on a topic that I had the time to reflect on just in the two days after the 28th, this issue that I mention in the title, the incongruence of the current student leaders, and you will see why. Let's see, if I entered the university in 2018, I can tell you that I have experience in student politics for about 4 years.

It will sound little, but in university times it is a lot, especially for how long a university career lasts, with or without positions. And I know perfectly well what it is to do student politics, and believe me that utopian image of what should be politics outside, in countries and governments, to be for and by people, student politics is the same, and leaders must enforce this, with leadership, organization, initiative and above all, taking into account the principles of democracy, freedom of expression, no censorship, human rights etc…

Beyond the ideologies of thought (which I will not discuss in this post) the goal is to somehow benefit the student population, which elected you through that vote. It has been a year since I became the Student Center of my Deanate in Humanities and Arts, and I am currently the President in charge of the Center, and it is the role that although we have not but perfect, we maintain. But everything gets complicated when it comes to establishing relationships with other Student Centers of other deanships.

And mind you, I will not put this to put me as the good guy and others as the bad guy, but to maintain my idea that currently even in student politics it has been lost for what it really is. Just on the 29th, I had several discussions via WhatsApp in the groups of the president of Centro, talking about the situation that broke out in the country, due to the fraud committed by the government.

Going to the priority, we had to discuss with that week of classes, before going into vacation, having protests and taking the background of 2014 and 2017, we did not want to expose students to return to classes with the danger in the streets. Between some dean's offices and myself, we thought, let's make a joint communiqué from all the centers, saying first, our position on what happened on the 28th, and second our suspension of classes as student leaders, to safeguard the physical integrity of our students.

Evidently we were planning or talking about all this, without the prior pronouncement of the authorities of my university, however knowing the obviousness of the situation and taking into account how late they always pronounce themselves, it was a matter of time, however, if the students do not see anything, if our population does not see anything, from any instance of the university, then it will be disoriented.

Unfortunately this proposal was rejected, because the majority of these presidents' leaders were of the opinion that we could not do this without the prior authorization of the authorities, that we had to adhere to a regulation, and one president even said "If the authorities say that we have to go to classes this week, we have to go to classes". I will not lie to you about my indignation and annoyance. To which I responded very respectfully that in an emergency of this caliber, my duty is to ensure the safety of my people, and where my common sense prevails in that if there are protests in the street, I should not tell the students to leave and return to classes, since my position at the Center was given to me by them with their vote, not by the university authorities.

Even at night, I received a notification that a consensus was being assembled to put together a communiqué, demanding that other student groups or movements could not organize or speak out, and that if they did, the EC would disassociate itself from all support. To which I responded to the notice, "Aham, why? And the answer was that only the Centers have the authority to organize and lead the students, to which I stayed 🤷🏻. To which I responded that first being a Center although, before the students and the deanship, we are the highest representation of leadership, we are not the only leaders that can exist or will exist, nor are we the owners of the masses or the guardians of each student to do of their own free will, much less can we control it, they listen because they trust. Evidently in the face of that consensus, I rejected and disassociated my support from the humanities and arts.

Now I ask myself, how low do we have to fall to believe that a position gives us the right to what? And forget the basic principles on which our choice as Centers is constituted. It is unbelievable that everything that had been raised to me that night, could not be further from previous student leadership and that unfortunately within my university, several deanships have that kind of student governance, not of servants, but of obtaining power to control and I do what I think I know how to do.

Unfortunately, the current student leaders are very similar to the government that now controls my country Venezuela, and I am not taking any responsibility, that for my part, my efforts will never be perfect, but I have always said that I do not need to boast but that my deeds speak for me and the people too, because that is what supports you in politics. And as the Peruvian Chancellor said yesterday "That is why they do not believe us" when one enters this environment.

Espero estén muy bien, yo bien, dentro de lo que cabe claro está, actualmente en la atmósfera de mi país, hay un miedo y tensión en la calle, no por las protestas ni porque se vaya a generar un problema en la calle, sino porque el régimen del gobierno que se robó las elecciones, está ahora persiguiendo a todas las personas (mayormente influencers) qué publique en las redes, historias o estados de WhatsApp, cosas en contra del gobierno, o vídeos de lo que está sucediendo en Venezuela. Se los digo, para que sepan cada vez que lean las introducción de mi post, como va la situación de mi país, lamentablemente vamos de mal en peor en represión.

Pero bueno, de verdad espero que esta pesadilla en algún momento termine. Sin embargo en esta oportunidad quiero comentarles sobre un tema que tuve el tiempo para reflexionar justamente en los dos días después del 28, este asunto que les comento en el título, la incongruencia de los dirigentes estudiantiles actuales, y ya verán por qué. A ver, si yo ingresé a la universidad en el 2018, puedo decirle que tengo experiencia en la política estudiantil alrededor de unos 4 años.

Sonará poquito, pero en tiempos universitarios es mucho, sobre todo para lo que dura una carrera universitaria, con o sin cargos. Y se perfectamente lo que es hacer política estudiantil, y créame que imagen utópica de lo que debería ser la política afuera, en los países y gobiernos, estar para y por las personas, la política estudiantil es igual, y los dirigentes deben hacer valer esto, con liderazgo, organización, iniciativa y sobre todo, teniendo en cuenta los principios de democracia, libertad de expresión, no a la censura, derechos humanos etc…

Más allá de las ideologías de pensamiento (que en eso no ondare en este post) el objetivo, es que de alguna manera, beneficiar a la población estudiantil, a la cual te eligió a través de ese voto. Hace ya un año que me convertí en Centro de Estudiantes de mi Decanato en Humanidades y Artes, y actualmente soy el Presidente encargado del Centro, y es el rol que si bien, no hemos sino perfecto, mantenemos. Pero todo se nos complica al momento de establecer relaciones con otros Centros de Estudiantes de otros decanatos.

Y ojo, esto no lo pondré para ponerme a mí como el bueno y a otros el malo, sino de mantener mi idea, de que actualmente hasta en la política estudiantil se ha perdido para lo que realmente es. Justamente el 29, tuve varias discusiones vía WhatsApp en los grupos de presidente de Centro, hablando sobre la situación que estalló en el país, debido al fraude cometido por el gobierno.

Yendo a lo prioritario, debíamos discutir con esa semana de clases, antes de entrar a vacaciones, habiendo protestas y tomando los antecedentes del 2014 y 2017, no queríamos exponer a los estudiantes a regresar a clases con el peligro en las calles. Entre unos decanatos y yo, pensamos, vamos a hacer un comunicado en conjunto de todos los centros, diciendo primero, nuestra posición sobre lo que ocurrió el 28, y segundo nuestra suspensión de clases como dirigentes estudiantiles, para salvaguardar la integridad física de nuestros estudiantes.

Evidentemente todo esto lo estábamos planificando o hablando, sin la antes pronunciamiento de las autoridades de mi Universidad, sin embargo sabiendo lo obvio de la situación y tomando en cuenta lo tarde que ellos se pronuncian siempre, era cuestión de tiempo, sin embargo, si los estudiantes no ven nada, si nuestra población no ve nada, de alguna instancia de la universidad, entonces quedará desorientada.

Lamentablemente esta propuesta se desestimó, porque la mayoría de estos dirigentes presidentes, opinaron que no podíamos hacer eso sin la previa autorización de las autoridades, de que teníamos que apegarnos a un reglamento, incluso textualmente de una presidenta dijo “Si las autoridades dicen que hay que ir a clases está semana, hay que ir a clases”. No les mentiré mi indignación y molestia. A la cual respondí muy respetuosamente de que ante una emergencia de este calibre, mi deber es velar por la seguridad de mi población, además donde mi sentido común prevalece en qué sí hay protestas en la calle, yo no debe decirles a los estudiantes de que salgan y regresen a clases, ya que mi cargo en el Centro, me lo dieron ellos con su voto, no las autoridades universitarias

Incluso en la noche, me llega una notificación de que se estaba armando un consenso para armar un comunicado, exigiendo que otros grupos o movimientos estudiantiles, no podían organizar o pronunciarse, y que si lo hacían, los CE se desligan de todo apoyo. A lo que yo respondí a la notificación ¿Ajam por qué ? Y la respuesta fue que solo los Centros tienen la autoridad para organizar y liderar a los estudiantes, a lo que me quedé 🤷🏻. A lo que respondí que primero ser Centro si bien, ante los estudiantes y en el decanato, somos la máxima representación de liderazgo, no somos los único líderes que podemos existir ni que existirán, tampoco somos los dueños de las masas ni los vigilantes de que cada estudiante haga por voluntad propia, y mucho menos podemos controlarlo, ellos hacen caso porque confían. Evidentemente ante ese consenso, rechace y desligue mi apoyo de parte de humanidades y artes.

Ahora yo me preguntó, que tan bajo hay que caer para creer, que un cargo, nos da derecho a qué ? Y olvidar los principios básicos en los cuales se constituye nuestra elección de como Centros. Es increíble que todo lo que se me había planteado esa noche, no podía estar más alejado de anteriores dirigencias estudiantiles y que lamentablemente dentro de mi universidad, varios decanatos tienen esa clase de gobernanza estudiantil, no de servidores, sino de obtención de poder para controlar y yo hacer lo que yo creo que sé hacer.

Lamentablemente los dirigentes estudiantiles actual, se parecen mucho al gobierno que ahora controla mi país Venezuela, desligandome toda responsabilidad, que por mi parte, mis gestiones jamás serán perfectas, pero siempre he dicho que no necesito alardear sino que mis hechos hablan por mi y la gente también, porque de eso es que te respalda en la política. Y como dijo ayer el canciller de Perú “Por eso es que no nos creen” cuando uno se adentra en este ambiente.
