Culture is described as the way of life of a group of people. The Concept culture entrenches on the Values, belief, custom, habits, capabilities, knowledge of social behavior and norms on how to live peacefully, and perfect in the Society. Culture describes how an entire society lives and is being passed down from generations to generations which involves, Manners, Norms, greetings, Dress, Language and other categories.
In the old days in Nigeria, learning of culture is regarded and a formal education before the advent of civilization. Civilization is described as a rise of new evolvement due to Development and a sense of it’s own superiority. Civilization has played a vital role in educating both the young and old on how to tackle major challenges faced in our historical cultural believes and this helps us to be aware of other country Functionality.
Civilization has help us to grow and develop but there are some major challenges civilizations has affected us in survival and the existence of Cultural norms in Nigeria.
Marriage; The existence of Divorce is prohibited in Our Cultural norms. Separation of marriage is shun and is considered a taboo and unfit for public disclosure. When a husband and a wife fight the elders settle this, and the wife are subject to the husbands will because he provides for the family.
Greetings; The culture of greetings have been denied. In Nigeria cultural norms demands that the younger ones greet the elders ones or the influential are to be respected just like the King, Monarch and others also. This is due to the introduction of civilization and the law.
Political Effect; In the older days the Elders of the community make decisions for political rules and campaign and this is done through family support. Civilization have made both the lower and higher citizen vote which is profitable, but corruption is its bedrock now.
Dressing; Culture Demand that decent dressing for men and a more covered clothing. But civilization has made freedom for all type of dressings and it’s like. Decent dressing are to be followed accordingly with cultural backgrounds. Most Improper dressing is as a result of civilization
lifestyle; Cultural norms lifestyle is very appeasing to the society and community, whereby we are to respect our elders and those around us, assist people in need of help and the influential people but civilized lifestyle has on respect for the law and nobody.
Emotional Intelligence; culture helps us to be alert of what people around you face and giving them support in all ways around, but civilization has made emotions on people around a lawful act, whereby you can be implicated for assistance or helping a person. Culture belief gives support to the community in improving emotion intelligence.
In conclusion, Culture Norms need to be brought back to help people live peacefully in marriage, home and the community. Having a good culture is important to a good lifestyle. A good culture helps us to be respectful to both the community and elders. I Believe with a good cultural background and norms and ethics, divorce and separation won’t be common in the society, the law have made this havoc to be a few will. A good Culture helps us to respect and act responsibly in the political domain. Politics and culture are to characterized with the set of attitudes and belief of the society in sentiment of a orderly process not against an orderly domain.
