On the Road Walls of Pingad

Street art is common here in the Cordilleras. It wasn't so many years ago until 2019 when the government introduced the 'Road Beautification' initiative which prompted localities to make their roads more colorful and attractive through creative works - i.e. murals, landscaping, and such. If I may say so, it's a nice program as it allows local talents to showcase their crafts and creativity while giving motorists or travelers fun things to enjoy as they drive by. Or for some folks like us, take pictures and share them too😅

Speaking of which, during our trip to Bontoc earlier in the month, we captured some lovely artwork on the road walls of Pingad (one of the barangays in Mountain Province) and thought I'd give them some space here on the chain just as the others we came across with before.

These creative works caught our eyes in the morning but we did not have the chance to take pictures but did so in the afternoon. The husband actually drove past them but luckily, there were no other vehicles behind us so we went back a little for the photo-taking. This lovely couple deserves more eyes :)

Two minutes away from the newlyweds are these adorable pandas. I can only assume vekscode@fb.com did this artwork.

About a 7-minute drive away from the cute pandas, we found another set of murals. This chopper and a mountain are quite cool to miss noh? The same case as the earlier pics, the hubby did a little maneuvering just so we could go back for these :) I'm just thankful he was coolheaded or else, lol!

Below are the other doodles in that area. They're simple but fun and cool to look at, don't you think so?

Unfortunately, we didn't find any information about the artists of most of the above arts. Perhaps they are residents in that area and chose not to put their signatures along with their work.

We surely had fun checking them out although we were just driving by. As I mentioned earlier in this post, they add colors and fun to the road walls. With no basic knowledge of art styles and such, I apologize for not being able to elaborate more on these but hope you enjoy them as much as we did.

Thank you and until our next street art finds! Happy new week, frens!
