The 10th edition of the Mural Festival took place from the 9th to the 19th of June gathering more than 20 street artists with 25 concerts. And I missed this edition, the wedding of a friend called me under other skies 😀. But I was able to walk along the boulevard Saint Laurent to see the result, After two editions a little less successful because of the covid, this year, we had the right to murals of great quality. And today, I present you the mural made by the main artist of this edition, Shepard Fairey aka Obey.

La 10ème édition du Mural Festival s'est déroulé du 9 au 19 juin dernier regroupant plus d'une vingtaine de street artistes avec 25 concerts. Et j'ai raté cette édition, le mariage d'un ami m'a appelé sous d'autres cieux 😀 . Mais j'ai pu parcourir le boulevard Saint Laurent pour voir le résultat. Après deux éditions un peu en demi teinte, cette année, nous avons eu le droit à des murales de grande qualité. Et aujourd'hui, je vous présente la murale faite par l'artiste principale de cette édition, Shepard Fairey aka Obey.

Here is the old main square of the festival on the boulevard Saint Laurent with the works of Jerry Rugg aka BirdO done last year (the rooster CCC's Street Art Contest #81), of D Face (this wall is already several years old Street Art #015) and finally on top the mural made by Shepard Fairey this year. Before the concerts were done on this parking lot and with the presence of the Station 16 gallery, it was the heart of the festival. It is now a little more spread out on the boulevard Saint Laurent with its Music part a little more on the street Sainte Catherine in the Quartier des Spectacles in Montreal.
Voici l'ancienne place principale du festival sur le boulevard Saint Laurent avec les œuvres de Jerry Rugg aka BirdO faite l'année dernière (le coq CCC's Street Art Contest #81), de D Face (ce mur a déjà plusieurs année Street Art #015) et enfin en haut la murale faite par Shepard Fairey cette année. Avant les concerts se faisaient sur ce parking et avec la présence de la galerie Station 16, c'était le cœur du festival. Il est maintenant un peu plus réparti sur le boulevard Saint Laurent avec sa partie Musique un peu plus sur la rue Sainte Catherine dans le Quartier des Spectacles.

Shepard Fairey

I don't think I have to introduce the artist, as he is a legend of Street Art like Banksy. But here is a short biography. Born in 1970 in Charleston in the US, Shepard Fairey aka Obey is an artist known worldwide for his stickers André the Giant Has a Posse and then especially for the poster Hope of Barack Obama in 2008. He has created over a hundred murals around the world, including one in Montreal.

Je ne pense pas que je dois présenter l'artiste, vu que c'est une légende du Street Art au même titre que Banksy. Mais voici une courte biographie. Né en 1970 à Charleston aux US, Shepard Fairey aka Obey est un artiste mondialement connu pour ses autocollants André the Giant Has a Posse puis surtout pour l'affiche Hope de Barack Obama en 2008. Il a réalise plus d'une centaine de murales dans le monde, dont maintenant une à Montréal.

At the same time as the realization of this mural, Shepard Fairey had an exhibition with the Station 16 gallery. A poster was published on this occasion where we find all the elements of the mural.
