Innovation out of crisis

In the wake of the Covid-19 crisis, it is great to see teachers adapting and using the tools available to them to make the best of a tricky situation. Many older teachers who have been reluctant in recent years have finally been motivated to learn systems like Moodle or Blackboard. If all high school classes can consistently provide an easily accesible online platform of tasks and resources, students will be more predictably able to succeed in their courses. Many teachers have also been able to step back from the traditional "sage on the stage" lecture model of teaching in favor of a more dynamic student-centered approach. This is largely a result of being forced into digital learning and the realization that the internet often holds more valuable and effective learning tools than may be found in a traditional classroom. Although I lament that teachers have all had to work extra hard this year to completely reevaluate the way they present material, perhaps it has been an opportunity for everyone to evaluate which technology and innovative tools can best help them serve their students.
