For a small town of seven thousand people, counted in the 2021 census, The Western Downs Regional council sure did a good job on the Chinchilla Botanic Gardens. Three Hundred kilometres is a long way west of Brisbane. There is a fair bit of farming and coal mining in the area so I suppose that along with some good management brings in bit of money to get things done.
There was some cool water feature fountains that were being happily used by some young children on this early spring afternoon.
The gardens are located on the old railway station site, the new station is near by just about five hundred metre down the road.
The museum is next door but were we too late to have a look inside but many of the out door displays were visible from the gardens.
Lots of old rail way historical buildings.
A five bay workshop now that would be handy at home.
There is a three kilometres of walking track within the garden and it is the second place we have been now with a Queensland children's book featured. If you walk in the right direction you can get a bit of reading done as well.
@consciouscat was happy to test out some of the play ground while I got a few more photos, my ankle was not up for any climbing.
I like the way the incorporated lots of the old railway timbers into the playground sort of like still being able to connect with the past.
