On the third day of Everest Base Camp trek, enjoy a free day at Namche Bazaar. Today is a rest day, but you will have to hike soon for altitude training. This acclimatization hike is very important for the trek. On the third day of Everest Base Camp trek, you will trek from Namche Bazaar to Hotel Everest View. It will take about 3 hours to drive to Everest View Hotel.
Today you will also pass by Syangboche Airport, the highest airport in Nepal, although there are no scheduled flights. After breakfast at your accommodation, start your hike along the steep paths inside the village. It takes about 15 minutes to hike to the top of Namche Bazaar. From there, you can see Mount Kongde and the stunning U-shaped Namche Bazaar in the distance. You will see huge mani rocks decorated with prayer wheels and Tibetan Buddhist mantras. Once you have caught your breath, turn left and continue hiking to Syangboche and Everest View Hotel. A 30-minute uphill hike offers breathtaking views of Kongde, Mt. Thamserku, Kusum Kangaroo and Namche village. Then comes the steeper, more gradual climb to Syangboche Airport. From here you can also see the peak of Mt. Ama Dablam. Continue climbing through grasslands and small juniper trees to reach Everest Sherpa Resort.
