Learn how to build a cheap but incredibly strong Forest Splinter combo with Magic Monsters!

Summoner: Obsidian

Price: 3.4 USD (currently Free-to-Play)

Obsidian is the most popular Free-to-Play Summoner, and for a good reason: Magic is very strong on the lower leagues (Bronze/Silver), as it literally bypass one of the game mechanics (Armor). A Magic-Heavy team is able to kill enemies really fast, bringing you easy victories.

When you play Obsidian as your Summoner, you have to play lots of Magic Monsters on your team, in order to get the most benefit from her +1 Magic Attack buff.

Let's find out which Monsters you'll use on the rest of your team!

Frontline Tank: Unicorn Mustang or Mycelic Infantry

image.pngimage.png

Price: 5 USD and 0.2 USD (currently both are Free-to-Play)

The classic Forest Splinter tanks!

If you think that your opponent will also use a Magic-Heavy Strategy, your best option is playing the Unicorn Mustang, the 10-Health tank with the Void ability, halving any Magic Damage that goes his way!

In the other hand, if you think that your opponent will use a strategy based on Melee or Ranged Monsters, the Mycelic Infantry will be your tank: his Shield ability will halve Melee/Ranged Damage, allowing him to survive for several rounds while you kill your enemy's own Monsters!

To find out which one of those cards you'll use as your tank, just pay attention to your opponent's match history. If he's on a Forest Splinter streak, it's very probable that he'll stay using Magic Monsters. Otherwise, go with Mycelic Infantry as your tank and you'll be fine!

Healing Monsters: Wood Nymph and Goblin Psychic

image.pngimage.png

Price: 3.5 USD and 0.25 USD (Goblin Psychic is currently Free-to-Play)

Here's where things start to be more interesting!

With only 10 Mana, you're able to have both Wood Nymph and Goblin Psychic on the match. They'll be able to heal your frontline tank 2 times per round, and deal a total of 5 Magic Damage each turn (1+1 and 2+1, due Obsidian buff).

While it'll be incredibly difficult for your tank to die due DOUBLE HEAL, you'll be sweeping through the enemy tanks with all the focused Magic damage given by Obsidian and your Magic Monsters!

Countering Magic: Mushroom Seer

image.png

Price: 19 USD

If everyone's playing Obsidian, you have to be able to counter her! And there's no better card to counter Magic Monsters than the Mushroom Seer!

This wonderful card has the Silence ability, debuffing all enemy Monsters with -1 Magic Damage. The Mushroom Seer literally counters Obsidian buff!

The Mushroom Seer makes the Unicorn Mustang almost invincible as your tank, as your tank will now just be receiving weak Magic attacks!

Countering Melee: Venari Knifer

image.png

Price: 0.08 USD

The Venari Knifer is a VERY cheap card, but a GREAT trick against pesky Melee Monsters with Sneak ability :D

One of the main weaknesses of a Magic-Heavy deck, like this one we're building, is that your backline is weak against any incoming Sneak damages. And I can guarantee to you that your opponents will play lots of Sneak monsters to destroy your backline.

Just play the Venari Knifer as your last Monster! With his Thorns ability, he'll deal 2 damage for each incoming Melee attack. This will be able to kill lots of Sneak Monsters in just 1 or 2 rounds, as they usually have low Health, and will keep the rest of your team safe!
