Clearing Misunderstandings

There's a HUGE misunderstanding regarding XP Boosters and what they do among the newer players - sometimes even older players.

XP Boosters Are Different From Fans/Skills Boosters

The name is the same - all are called "Boosters". And all of them have surprisingly high prices, but in my opinion, the XP Boosters are the ones justified, since there's no other way to gain XP other than doing missions. Now, these cards don't give flat XP to you, nor do they give increase your "XP gain" per mission by a flat number.

What XP Boosters do...

... is that they increase your XP gain by a certain percentage(%).
Owning an XP Booster and holding on to it would give you boosted XP from missions.

Three types of XP Boosters:

  1. XP Boost 10 with 2100 Cards in Print (90 SWAP.HIVE current floor price)
  2. XP Boost 50 with 160 Cards in Print (475 SWAP.HIVE current floor price)
  3. XP Boost 100 with 100 Cards in Print (750 SWAP.HIVE current floor price)

How much do they actually Boost??

XPBoost 10 boosts the XP you get from all missions you do by a WHOPPING 80%.
It almost doubles your XP gain rate which is a lot - considering how most missions are locked behind a "level requirement" wall.

XP Boost 50 and 100 increase your XP gain by less than 400% and less than 800%.

I don't know the exact number, as I don't own any, but Foxon says it is less and it actually is. (He once shared the numbers and deleted them afterward... I don't bother with the exact value... helps you sleep better at night 🤣) But really, not worth it if you're not a collector... tell you why later.

Note: You'll need to be level 350 to access all Zones and missions.

Here's an example:

I'm currently level 120 and it takes me +3 months of non-stop grinding with 4*XPBoost10 (+320% Boost) to get to level 210 which unlocks the mission "Rap Battle" (the 5-min mission from the 4th Zone).

Now, I could buy more boosters and level up even faster, but with my level of investment (and what my small pocket allows😅) it's enough and I prefer making the most STARTBITS doing missions daily while moving forward.
Pushing for more levels and rushing it is another option, but, remember, there is not a GIANT reward boost waiting for you in the 4th Zone - it only gives you access to a variety of missions so you can do a wider range of missions and offset Ego.

Do I Recommend them??

Short Answer: YES!!

Long one: It Depends!!

On your level of investment as they are not cheap! The money spent on them could go to increasing your Fans, thus income.

If you don't own Pizzas, then don't bother with XP Boosters, yet (or do, cause they might increase in price again). Complete your hand step-by-step - you don't want to increase your XP per mission when you can't do missions, do you??

Also, XPBoost10 is the best option out there. Not only is it more liquid, but it also gives you the whole 80% increase (as it is less in the case of XP Boost 50 and 100). I think that gives you a good idea of how XP10 prices should be compared to XP50 and XP100 - they're bulky, less liquid and give less in return.

Don't forget that XP Boosters are limited and it's less likely for other variations to be released.

A Little Thank you

to @beffeater who commented on my previous post in the #thgaming community and reminded me to post this. I'd mentioned it in my article weeks ago and stuff happened, so I forgot it entirely in my messy schedule.

Also, if you've not heard about it, THGaming is a cross-chain gaming guild with its own Token on the Hive Blockchain. This post is an entry to their second competition. There's still some time left, so you can come up with a post and join in, if you haven't.

There's also a Twitter raffle going on, there's no reason for you not to be joining hehe~~
