On the Menu Tonight: Classic Reggae, Bluebeat and Ska! Plus The First Time with Jimmy Cliff

Levi Roots, one of the UK's best known Caribbean chefs, has been an integral part of the UK's reggae scene for decades, firstly as part of the world famous Coxone Sound System out of Brixton and then as a solo songwriter and performer, playing in front of 50,000 people with James Brown and singing for Nelson Mandela on his birthday.

The programme, broadcast on BBC Sounds tonight, has music from The Selecter & The Specials, Amy Winehouse & Hollie Cook, Toots & The Maytals. Bob Marley & The Wailers, Sister Nancy and more, including a great Clancy Eccles production on "Stand By Your Man".

Three other episodes are available on the programme website, with these classic sounds broadcasting tonight at 21:00 BST (UTC plus one hour).

One of a selection of Reggae and Caribbean focused shows on BBC radio including dance hall and afrobeats, the Lockdown Sessions with Seani B and Don Letts' Culture Clash Radio, this week with a Dreadlockdown Special giving a flavour of his bass-heavy club and festival DJ sets.
