Genesis by the Sea in Ocho Rios is Oceanfront apartment unit owned by two entrepreneurial sisters, Kamille and Michelle. I had the pleasure of staying at this spot on my trip to Jamaica recently and I was not disappointed.
But first a little history, do you know how the idea for Airbnb came about? Well if you don't, here is the story. The idea for Airbnb came about in 2007 when its founders, Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia, were struggling to pay rent for their apartment in San Francisco. At the time, a design conference was coming to the city, and most of the hotels were fully booked. Recognizing this shortage of accommodation, Chesky and Gebbia saw an opportunity. They decided to rent out air mattresses in their apartment to attendees of the conference and offer them breakfast as part of the deal, creating what they called an "Air Bed & Breakfast."
It is always interesting to hear how ideas were birthed, especially ones with the global impact. Airbnb has truly changed the way we view travel and accommodations and it has created a new source of income for many to tap into.

Genesis by the Sea is built right on a rocky cliff, the buildings were built so every room could get an ocean view. These buildings, while they aren't new are centrally located. What Genesis offers though is a luxurious well taken care of unit in one of the three buildings.
- Genesis By The Sea in Ocho Rios is near some of Jamaica's most iconic attractions. It is located close to Dunn’s River Falls, a famous natural waterfall known for its cascading tiers that visitors can climb. Additionally, it's near Dolphin Cove, where guests can swim with dolphins, and Mystic Mountain, offering adventure activities like zip-lining and bobsled rides. The property is also within driving distance of local markets, restaurants, and nightlife, making it a well-rounded option for travelers looking to experience Ocho Rios' natural beauty and vibrant culture.*
The oceanfront apartment in Ocho Rios is close to several stunning beaches, providing a variety of options for beachgoers. Guests can visit the private beach directly accessible from the property but what I have noticed, it is a party people beach, not the best for quite time with family. But good for those looking to Party Hard on the beach.
Nearby, Ocho Rios Bay Beach is a popular spot with calm waters perfect for swimming, while James Bond Beach, located a short drive away, offers clear turquoise waters and a laid-back vibe. Turtle Beach, another nearby option, provides white sands and is ideal for both sunbathing and water sports.
However, the beaches recommended by the hosts of this unit are Columbus Cove and Bamboo Blue in Mammee Bay. These beaches, while a little drive away offer the best experience in terms of exclusivity and service. These beaches are well kept and offer some of the best sunsets in Ochi.
Staying at Genesis By the Sea in Ocho Rios was an absolute pleasure! The host was incredibly responsive and welcoming, making sure everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. They offered great local tips ( especially regarding beaches and restaurants) and were always available for any questions.
The apartment was spotless, with thoughtful details throughout that made the stay feel extra special. I really appreciated how organized everything was, from the clear instructions to the personalized touches. They also had up-to-date Caribbean magazines. Overall, the host's hospitality made this beachfront getaway even more memorable! My only regret, I didn't take much pictures of the interior:(.
