I remember I used to be in a phase where when I was coding, I used to think that if I code something suddenly people will find me and buy what I want them to buy. And then life happened and I realized that is not how the real life works.
We have to learn to make and give what people want. Let's discuss.

Your Idea is Useless if It doesn't meet Demand
Let's assume the case where you may find that you have idea to count the hairs on the body of dog. This brilliant idea you think would make you rich and every person wants to buy it according to you. But does it meets the real demand of the market? I don't think so. So that is not the idea which you are supposed to pursue.
Your Idea Should Solve the Problem
Does your idea solves the problem that people have already? If you want to reinvent the scissor, does it going to solve any strong problem? If not you have to find out how it can solve the problem that you have. You should focus on getting your right idea to solve the right set of the problems.
Does it make you money?
If people need it and you make it then it is going to make money. If you make something and people don't need it then you are not going to make money. That is one of the simple equation that you can find out in your life. You have to make sure to choose the demand, supply and the interest in the right way. That way you would open up to the cash flow.
So as you can see from this, when you make something that has demand, supply and also the ability to produce with your honest intentions. Then that business would make you some decent money.
Conclusion
When you build something because you want it then it serves the single purpose but if you make something that people want you are going to solving the larger set of the problem. And that would earn you some decent income out of the efforts that you take to make something.
