This is another question that is often posed: who lives longer, good or bad? In this life, I've witnessed good people suffer and some bad people enjoy their lives for many years. This can lead to confusion in us and discouragement at times. However, when I read the word of God, I realize that life is not just about the length of time that we are on the earth, it's about the way that we live on the earth before God.
The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:15, “There is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.” This verse shows that there are times when wicked people may appear to live longer. The long life does not imply God's approval of their ways, however. God sees the heart and in the end, God sees the end of everyone.
I have personally found that having a good life brings peace, which money and years of working can't afford. A person can live for many years but still live empty lives without God. In Psalm 37:37, we read, “Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.” I prefer to be at peace, to be just, to be at peace rather than live long in wickedness and fear.
I sometimes question God as to their presence for so long, when they may be evil. But I do remember God's patience and that he gives people time to repent. The Lord's desire is that no one perish, but that all come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). This shows the mercy and love of God.
Finally, more is not the main concern, whether we have lived long enough or not, but whether we have lived in accordance with the will of God. It is better to have a short life in God than a long life in His absence! I ask God to bless my life, whatever the number of years I spend on earth, my life will always please Him.
