1 Thessalonians 5:21-22
:21. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
:22. Abstain from all appearance of evil.
I learnt that we should hold on to good things in all we do.
Romans 12:9
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
It is good to know that which is good in order to know the one to behold. Being ignorant of the right thing lead to holding the wrong.
John 9:31
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Prayer is also a doctrine of God. Praying in a right mind and way is important in order for God to hear us.
Proverbs 15:8
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
Matthew 6:7-8
:7. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
:8. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
We should not use vain repetitions while praying because God already know what we want to say.
Isaiah 65:24
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
We must not be an hypocrites. It is a private matter between us and God.
Matthew 6:5-6
:5. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
:6. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
We must ensure we forgive those who sinned against us for our prayers to be answered.
Mark 11:25
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
