My Lesson Gained from today's Bible Study:
Today our brother eli spoke on "Salvation".
Things I Learnt
Salvation can not be bought by the wealth of the entire world (Bro Eli). The word " world" means cosmos, which means everything created by God. So it is important to know that salvation can not come from any man.
Jere 17:5: 5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.
For us to hope for salvation, we must completely trust in God.
Titus 1:2:In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.
Also, we should know that riches are not and can never be the foundation for true salvation.
1 tim 6:17:Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.
Salvation have been taken for just confessing Christ to be our Lord and saviour, but it is beyond mere confession.
Matt 7:21:Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
True salvation is a process and it is not jsut instant "Bro Eli".
The hearing of Gods word is the basic foundational path to salvation, after which we apply our faith through believing.
Rom 10:13-15: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Note that the word of God must be heard fro His own servant. Remember they are many false prophets.
Hearing Gods word, believing and then calling upon the Lord equals salvation " Bro Eli".
Salvation necessitates the needs for some things, and there are :
- Hearing
- Who you hear from ( the preacher)
- The word of God that is been heard: the word heard determines your level of believe.
- Understanding.
The fourth point is an important point in our walk to salvation.
1corin 2:11: For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
We should know that the understanding been thought here is not mere human understanding. It is the understanding that is been given to us by God.
Lastly, who we hear the word of God from is of great essence in our bit to gain salvation, because out there are many false teachers of the gospel.
2 tim 4:3-4: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
I hope this brings us the knowledge we need in our work for salvation.
