See you next year, Poppy

Every year I wait impatiently for the poppies to show up. Some shy ones start to bloom very early in spring, but the peak is around May. That's when lawns (if not mowed) fill up with the delicate red petals. And it is so spectacular I can stop myself from shooting them. Every year. Even though they always look the same.
It doesn't matter.
I love poppies. I don't know if it is their delicate nature with ballsy colour, or some indescribable calm they bring.

This group I found in a local park. With so many wildflowers blooming around, they still pop, and it's so hard to miss them.

The day, though sunny, was a bit windy, and I was having a hard time catching them in focus. One of those times where half of the photos end up in the bin ;)

Here are some neighbouring wildflowers that look like rucola.

It is a shame that soon after I took those photos the grass and flowers were cut down. I am sure many of them managed to produce seeds, but seeing the dry poppy heads would make me drag my camera again to that spot to take more photos :D

The rush is over. Now it's only the late ones or the brave ones will bloom here and there.
