We heard about that blackout on the news (not that I watch the news or anything) and it's almost impossible to think these things are possible in the modern world, but they are. It's because of situations like this I feel people need to be prepared, more prepared than not at all fucken prepared, I mean. But most people think there'll be someone to take care of them, the government (laughable), which is simply not the case. These situations are always on the verger of happening and not just in third world countries; it's best to know it and to work on a few methods to alleviate the situation when it does.
It's good you're on the right track now, hopefully it stays that way.
