Under the influence of my father, who watched the Italian soccer league games on television every weekend, my sister and I started to like this sport since we were kids.

We always read the sports section of the newspapers, watched the sports segment in the news, and from time to time we would buy something allusive, like folders, pencils, albums of soccer cards and anything that had to do with the teams we liked, my sister followed Milan and I followed Barcelona.

One day, we saw a magazine in a kiosk that was near our house, it was called Don Balón, its cover was very striking, as well as the headlines of the different topics it contained. Since my father gave me some money every month, I bought it, and from that moment on, we didn't miss it. It was a weekly edition, so in order to share expenses, my sister and I alternated, one week it was her turn to buy it and the next it was mine.

Don Balón had a very varied content in its pages, almost always 63, and a little more if it was a special edition. I liked to read it in its entirety, but what I enjoyed most were the interviews with the soccer players, the writing was very creative and they asked them very pleasant questions, both about sports and about other topics in life.
Don Balón tenía un contenido muy variado en sus páginas, casi siempre 63, y un poco más si se trataba de alguna edición especial. Me gustaba leerla completa, pero lo que más disfrutaba eran las entrevistas a los futbolistas, la redacción era muy creativa y les hacían preguntas muy amenas, tanto sobre el deporte como de otros temas de la vida.
Also the analysis they made were very good, and they always put some controversial article, I guess that way they sold more 😄.

Now that I think about it, having had the opportunity to read this magazine from a early age, gave me good tools for critical thinking and also eventually influenced me to study journalism as a career.

I was looking on the Internet where I could sell some of these magazines, to keep only my favorites, and I found that currently Don Balón is a cult object for many soccer collectors, so as the years go by, its value grows.
Estuve buscando en Internet dónde podía vender algunas de estas revistas, para quedarme sólo con mis favoritas, y descubrí que actualmente Don Balón es objeto de culto para muchos coleccionistas del fútbol, por lo que a medida que pasan los años, su valor crece.
