My Fridge Magnet Collection

Hello Hive Collectors!

I saw the latest topic of the month hot collections on a cold surface and I knew I had to make a post.

I have been a keen fridge magnet collector for a number of years even BK (before kids) and would often try to pick up a nice magnet from any of my travels. They are like collecting pins from Pinmapple of places you have been and having a little reminder in the kitchen. They started of with any old magnet, even quite basic, but then I started getting more fussy that I often didn't buy a magnet... which also isn't good.

Sadly, many of my older magnets have been damaged, lost or fallen to the wayside and I didn't add to many with COVID and not traveling and then I became abit disillusioned with my magnets and got quite fussy and wanted to make sure I got just really nice ones.

However, recently I have been getting back in the mood and am looking for nice ones to pick up again.

Probably my oldest surviving magnet is from Crete, which is a lovely island in Greece. I really love olive oil and at one time even often took herbal olive leaf extract quite often. I really love the style of this one and it has some special treasured memories from a great holiday in Crete. I have been there actually many times on holiday and can heartily recommend it.

Next is one that my wife brought back from her business trip to Porto. I have never been to Portugal, but I like this colorful magnet and think it was a good choice.

Here we have a colorful starfish and chicken. These are another couple that my wife picked up. I really like them again because they are quite colorful and give some character to the fridge.

Next up is a magnet from Wroclaw that I picked up when I was working there for a while. Its not such an amazing one, but I was there so often that I wanted to have a magnet to remind me of the place, especially the central square where I hung out quite a lot in the evenings. If you get a chance to go, I do recommend it and for collecting enthusiasts, you might want to see if you manage to collect a photo of all of the tiny little dwarves spread around the town.

Here I have another very nice and shiny magnet of the Budapest parliament building overlooking the Danube river. I have been to Budapest a few times, for leisure and business. I really liked the shininess of this one and solid feel. The awe of the parliament building and view of Budapest you can see here is pretty awesome and it is great to have this nice memory of it.

Although we went to Antalya last year I think it was, I didn't grab a magnet as I didn't see something I liked and didn't really go into many shops. Perhaps I could have picked something up from the airport, but it was very masky. Anyhow, friends of ours were in Turkey near Antalya actually and brought us back a magnet and we have it nicely on the fridge. This one is quite old too and has survived moves across 3 countries and a few fridges.

Our most recent magnet was brought back by my daughter for me from her recent trip to Disneyland and takes it's place on the fridge. Often we hang up things to do with the kids activities or achievements, so having a nice magnet with some meaning is great to have and remind you of certain places.

Seeing others magnet collections has given me some new inspiration to continue my quest to add some new magnets to replace the lost ones and have some more treasured memories in the future.

What magnets do you have?

Thanks for reading.
