For months I had not been able to dedicate myself, as was part of my habit and with pleasure, to my gardening activities, all because of a job that had me very stressed, that although it has not ended, the strongest part is over, the tedious part remains, but the most important thing is that I was able to take my vacation.
So I have already started, or rather, I have resumed some of my activities. I don't have a vegetable garden, nor a garden of my own; they are common areas, but most of the plants that are there were planted by my mother and I have followed her example in some things and added others.
From my mother I inherited three plants that are used for cooking recipes or to prepare teas and infusions: two oregano plants, one of the best known species Plectranthus amboinicus which has a completely green leaf and the other Pectranthus forsteri, whose leaf edge is white, as well as a lemon balm plant or Melissa officinalis.
Here I wish to make a warning about the oregano oregano with white-edged leaves, as there are very similar but toxic plants known as False Boldo, as it imitates the ornamental silver of the same name and resembles this variant of oregano.
<Now, oregano leaves are used for some cooking recipes, to the taste of each person obviously and also with its leaves are prepared infusions that are mainly used for medicinal purposes, my mother used them only for cooking recipes and gave us very precise instructions when cutting its leaves to avoid damaging or resenting the plant, as for lemon balm, it is a plant that is widely used to make drinks like tea, either hot or cold and is usually quite relaxing.
On the other hand, I could also take up again the compost, I had it totally abandoned, as you noticed the cockroach plants had already invaded it, so I had to remove them to be able to add some shells of pumpkin and banana, that is what I usually put in it, so if there are suggestions of something else that I can add, I will receive these suggestions with pleasure.
These shells I chopped them very well with a scissors, with the purpose of accelerating the decomposition process, I thought I would find the compost material a little dry, but to my surprise it looks very good, what I did not like is that after uncovering, I saw a group of bachacos in an area, maybe looking to make or expand their home, but I think they got scared after my visit.
It is important for those who do not know that it is convenient to remove the compost after adding some organic material, this so that it integrates in a better way, I remember removing it for the last time after adding some leaves in the process of decomposition, of which I did not see the slightest rest, it is also good to cover the compost with some material that helps to accelerate the process, in this case my mother used black plastic.
In a few weeks I hope to add some of this rich soil to some of my apartment plants and also to the oregano plants and remove some of the soil from the lemon balm, as it looks a little sick the leaf-cutting ants have attacked it, and it does not get as much sun as I would like, because above it are the avocado branches that I shared with you in a previous post.
The fruits of this avocado have turned out, as usual, delicious, very creamy, look at some of them in the pictures, the ones that fall on the soil of the gardens survive and we can enjoy them, but if they fall on the path they burst and turn into pieces which is a pity, because there are some huge ones that have been lost.

Desde hace meses no había podido dedicarme, como era parte de mi costumbre y con agrado, a mis actividades de jardinería, todo por un trabajo que me tenía muy estresada, que si bien no se ha terminado, la parte más fuerte ya salió, queda lo tedioso, pero lo más importante es que pude tomar mis vacaciones.
Así que ya comencé o, mejor dicho, retomé algunas de mis actividades. No tengo propiamente un huerto, ni un jardín propio; son áreas comunes, pero la mayoría de las plantas que allí están, las sembró mi madre y yo he seguido su ejemplo en algunas cosas y agregué otras.
De mi madre heredé tres plantas que sirven para recetas de cocina o para preparar tés e infusiones ellas son: dos plantas de orégano orejón, una de la especie más conocida la Plectranthus amboinicus que tiene la hoja completamente verde y la otra la Pectranthus forsteri, cuya orilla de la hoja es blanca, así como una planta de una de toronjil o Melissa officinalis.
Aquí deseo hacer una advertencia sobre el orégano orejón de hojas con orilla blanca, ya que hay planetas muy similares, pero que son tóxicas conocidas como Falso Boldo, ya que imita a la plata ornamental del mismo nombre y que se parece a esta variante del orégano.
Ahora bien, las hojas de orégano orejón son usadas para algunas recetas de cocina, al gusto de cada quien obviamente y también con sus hojas se preparan infusiones que se usan principalmente con propósito medicinal, mi madre las usaba solo para recetas de cocina y nos daba instrucciones muy precisas a la hora de cortar sus hojas para no dañar o resentir la planta, en cuanto al toronjil, es una planta que se usa mucho para hacer bebidas como té, ya sea frío o caliente y suele ser bastante relajante.
Por otra parte, también pude retomar el atender el compost, lo tenía totalmente abandonado, como notaran ya las plantas de cucarachera lo habían invadido, así que toco retíralas para poder agregar algunas conchas de auyama y plátano, eso es lo que suelo colocarle, así que si hay sugerencias de algo más que pueda agregar, recibiré dichas sugerencias con mucho gusto.
Estas conchas las pique muy bien con una tijera, con propósito de acelerar el proceso de descomposición, creí que encontraría algo seco el material del compost, pero para mi sorpresa luce muy bien lo que no me gusto es que tras destapar, vi un grupo de bachacos en un área, tal vez buscando hacer o ampliar su hogar, pero creo se espantaron tras mi visita.
Es importante para quienes no lo sepan que es conveniente remover el compost luego de agregar algún material orgánico, esto para que se integre de mejor manera, recuerdo haber removido este por última vez tras agregar algunas hojas en proceso de descomposición, de las cuales no vi el más mínimo resto, también es bueno cubrir el compost con algún material que ayude a acelerar el proceso, en este caso mi madre uso en plástico negro.
En unas semanas espero agregar parte de esta rica tierra a algunas de mis plantas de apartamento y también a las de orégano y remover un poco la tierra del toronjil, ya que luce un poco enfermo las hormigas corta hojas le han atacado, y no recibe tanto sol como me gustaría, debido a que sobre ella están las ramas del aguacate del que les compartí en una anterior publicación.
Los frutos de este aguacate han resultado, como ya es costumbre, deliciosos, muy cremosos, miren algunos en las fotografías, los que caen en la tierra de los jardines sobreviven y podemos disfrutarlos, pero si caen en la caminería estallan y se vuelven pedazos lo que es una lástima, porque hay algunos enormes que se han perdido.
