Nunca he sido fan de Wattpad aunque hay historias muy buenas e interesantes. Está en especial la leí solo porque en Facebook me aparecía a cada rato una imagen sobre este libro, que sería algo que me haría llorar, que su final te deja el corazón roto. Si, hablare de Boulevard de Flor M. Salvador.
I've never been a fan of Wattpad although there are some very good and interesting stories. This one in particular I read only because on Facebook I kept getting an image about this book, that it would be something that would make me cry, that its ending leaves you heartbroken. Yes, I will talk about Boulevard by Flor M. Salvador.

La historia creada por Flor M. Salvador se publicó por primera vez en Wattpad en 2014 cuando ella tenía 15 años, tuvo muchísimo éxito y en 2020 se publicó en físico por la Editorial Naranja, un grave error por razones que luego explicaré; y en 2022 fue nuevamente publicado bajo el sello de la editorial Penguin Random House que trajo ciertas mejoras, pero sigue siendo igual de horrible.

El libro comenzó siendo un fanfiction de Luke Hemmings vocalista de la banda 5 Seconds of Summer y siendo algo popular en Wattpad, muy buena pinta no da y si, es o correcto. Se confirmó una película que supongo que será para el próximo año.
The story created by Flor M. Salvador was published for the first time on Wattpad in 2014 when she was 15 years old, it was very successful and in 2020 it was published in physical by Editorial Naranja, a serious mistake for reasons that I will explain later; and in 2022 it was published again under the imprint of Penguin Random House which brought certain improvements, but it is still just as horrible.
The book started being a fanfiction of Luke Hemmings vocalist of the band 5 Seconds of Summer and being somewhat popular on Wattpad, it doesn't look very good and yes, it is or correct. A movie was confirmed which I guess will be for next year.
Boulevard
Hasley Weigel es una chica común y nada interesante que estudia en un instituto en Australia aunque en todo momento hablan como si fueran mexicanos y por circunstancia del destino, conoce a Luke Howland, el chico malo de la escuela que pasa su vida consumiendo drogas y que posiblemente tiene un pasado doloroso que usara como justificación para su comportamiento. Poco a poco van a ir coincidiendo en varios lugares y nace el amor tóxico que estamos acostumbrados en donde nuestra protagonista se convertirá en el centro de recuperación para nuestro Luke y obviamente traerá problemas emocionales para ambos, pero eso no importa, solo el amor. <3
Hasley Weigel is a common and uninteresting girl who studies in a high school in Australia although at all times speak as if they were Mexicans and by circumstance of fate, meets Luke Howland, the bad boy of the school who spends his life consuming drugs and possibly has a painful past that he will use as justification for his behavior. Little by little they are going to coincide in several places and the toxic love that we are used to is born where our protagonist will become the center of recovery for our Luke and obviously will bring emotional problems for both, but that does not matter, only love. <3

No puede ser que utilizaron una de mis canciones favoritas de Green Day de la peor manera posible, que utilizaran a Pink Floyd y que convirtieran a Luke Hemmings en un desgraciado.
Tengo muchas cosas que decir de este libro, me tarde dos semanas en leerlo y eso que es un libro corto y fácil de leer, es solo que la historia es insufrible. Wattpad es la cuna de las historias tóxicas, tenemos a After, A través de mi ventana y ahora tenemos a Boulevard y si sabemos, cual es la dinámica de los dos ejemplos anteriores, sabemos cómo será esta.
Tiene los mismos clichés, los mismos problemas que ya hemos visto una y otra vez, por lo que, no me centraré en eso. Pero, me centraré en otros problemas por lo que, prepárense:
It can't be that they used one of my favorite Green Day songs in the worst possible way, that they used Pink Floyd and that they turned Luke Hemmings into a wretch.
I have a lot to say about this book, it took me two weeks to read it and that's because it's a short and easy to read book, it's just that the story is insufferable. Wattpad is the cradle of toxic stories, we have After, Through My Window and now we have Boulevard and if we know, what is the dynamic of the two previous examples, we know how this one will be.
It has the same clichés, the same problems that we've already seen over and over again, so, I won't focus on that. But, I will focus on other problems so, brace yourselves:
Todos, pero en serio, todos los personajes son sumamente PLANOS, un cliché para nada interesante y aburrido, lo que hace imposible que nos interesemos por sus vidas y sintamos lastima por el final.
Hasley es definida en el libro por muchos personajes incluyendo a Luke, como una chica tonta, simple, ingenua, no muy inteligente e infantil en algunos momentos, les aseguro, el libro te lo deja bien claro sobre todo Luke que es su forma de mostrarle amor. No me molesta que Hasley será cliché, me molesta que no tenga nada interesante, ni hobbys, ni desarrollo, nada.
All, but seriously, all the characters are extremely FLAT, cliché, uninteresting and boring, making it impossible to care about their lives and feel sorry for the ending.
Hasley is defined in the book by many characters including Luke, as a silly, simple, naive, not very smart and childish girl at times, I assure you, the book makes it very clear to you especially Luke that it is his way of showing her love. I don't mind that Hasley will be cliché, I mind that she has nothing interesting, no hobbies, no development, nothing.
Hacer un personaje cliché no significa que sea plano, agregarle hobbys, miedos, desarrollo y personalidad puede crear un personaje muy interesante aunque cliché, de ejemplos tenemos a Cath de Fangirl y Betty de Betty la Fea (si, es una novela, pero todos la conocemos), ambas son chicas normales, un poco tontas en algunas ocasiones y son un cliché, pero tienen trasfondo, sabemos sus gustos, su historia, pasan por momentos fuertes que las hacen crecer como personaje y es fácil identificarse con ellas. Con Hasley, imposible.
Luke, básicamente, el chico malo con traumas y que intenta sobrellevar la vida consumiendo drogas, insultando a la gente incluyendo a nuestra protagonista y diciendo alguna que otra frase “motivadora”. Luke es un mejor personaje que Hasley, pero por poco porque tiene mínimo de desarrollo y conocemos que le gustan las drogas.
Making a character cliché does not mean that it is flat, adding hobbies, fears, development and personality can create a very interesting character, although cliché, as examples we have Cath from Fangirl and Betty from Ugly Betty (yes, it is a novel, but we all know her), both are normal girls, a little silly at times and they are a cliché, but they have background, we know their tastes, their history, they go through strong moments that make them grow as a character and it is easy to identify with them. With Hasley, impossible.
Luke, basically, the bad boy with traumas and who tries to cope with life using drugs, insulting people including our protagonist and saying the occasional "motivational" phrase. Luke is a better character than Hasley, but just barely because he has minimal development and we know he likes drugs.
El problema con este personaje es más que todo como está diseñado, pasa igual que con Hardin de After, los personajes están basados en una persona de la vida real y no se parecen en nada. Además del físico, Luke no tiene nada que lo asemeje a Luke de la vida real. Lo cual me trae conflicto porque si es un fanfiction deben representar de una manera muy acertada a la persona (en este caso) de la vida real. No entiendo por qué le cambiaron la personalidad a Luke, pero bueno.
Tenemos el terreno listo para crear una relación tóxica, basada en la dependencia emocional y la manipulación, en donde Luke obviamente le va a causar muchos tristezas y molestias a Hasley, pero ella debe seguir porque es su responsabilidad cambiar a Luke y volverlo, una buena persona. La verdad es que esto ya lo hemos visto en otras historias y sabemos lo horrible que es esta situación, nadie es el centro de rehabilitación de otra persona y que este tipo de relación muy posiblemente termine de una muy mala manera. Pero bueno, en estas historias la ayuda profesional no existe.
The problem with this character is mostly how he is designed, it happens the same as with Hardin from After, the characters are based on a real life person and they don't resemble each other at all. Besides the physique, Luke has nothing to resemble the real life Luke. Which brings me conflict because if it's a fanfiction they should very accurately portray the person (in this case) in real life. I don't understand why they changed Luke's personality, but oh well.
We have the ground ready to create a toxic relationship, based on emotional dependence and manipulation, where Luke is obviously going to cause a lot of sadness and discomfort to Hasley, but she must continue because it is her responsibility to change Luke and make him a good person. The truth is that we have already seen this in other stories and we know how horrible this situation is, no one is the rehabilitation center of another person and that this type of relationship will most likely end in a very bad way. But well, in these stories professional help does not exist.
También tenemos triángulos amorosos, infidelidades, y otros problemas que a nadie le importa. El problema con esta historia no es que sea tóxica porque hay muchas otras obras con parejas tóxicas, pero en esta se romantiza y se normaliza y siendo una historia para público femenino pre y adolescente. Le enseña que está bien soportar maltratos a cambio de un poquito de amor y que el poder del amor puede cambiarlo todo y no, el 98% de las veces no es así.
Otro problema de la historia es como se toca el tema de las adicciones, es obvio que la escritora no sabía nada de las adicciones, un tema muy complejo que no se debe llevar a la ligera, pero en esta historia solo se sataniza, Hasley a cada rato criticando a Luke por consumir y nunca lo ayuda en nada. Me molesta que incluyan temas serios que no tienen ni idea y que luego no saben cómo manejarlos correctamente.
We also have love triangles, infidelities, and other problems that no one cares about. The problem with this story is not that it is toxic because there are many other works with toxic couples, but in this one it is romanticized and normalized and being a story for pre and adolescent female audience. It teaches her that it is okay to endure mistreatment in exchange for a little bit of love and that the power of love can change everything and no, 98% of the time it does not.
Another problem of the story is how the subject of addictions is touched, it is obvious that the writer knew nothing about addictions, a very complex subject that should not be taken lightly, but in this story it is only demonized, Hasley every time criticizing Luke for using and never helps him in any way. It bothers me that they include serious topics that they have no idea about and then don't know how to handle them correctly.
También libro utiliza la carta de “es que son adolescentes” para justificar las acciones de los personajes, Hasley sale con dos chicos a la vez, muy casual y oculta sus inseguridades y en ningún momento trata de aceptarse o trabajar en sus inseguridades por su propia cuenta, porque tenemos a varios chicos populares que les trae seguridad. Así que, mientras tenemos a Hasley teniendo un romance con un chico popular, por otro lado la tenemos creando dependencia emocional por Luke, lo bueno es que este no la usa como objeto sexual, lo cual, es un avance.
En el libro tenemos la perspectiva de ambos protagonistas y podemos ver que son muy infantiles, solucionan problemas de una manera para nada madura a pesar de tener entre 17 y 18, tienen peleas por estupideces que salen de la nada, que es verdad, en la vida real a veces peleamos por estupideces, pero no tan seguido. Nuevamente traemos el tema de las adicciones, los personajes hablan de eso de una manera poco natural y el tema se trata desde un punto de vista superficial y lo que es políticamente correcto, dejando por allí frases “motivadoras” que son todo, menos motivadoras.
Also book uses the "it's just that they are teenagers" card to justify the actions of the characters, Hasley dates two boys at a time, very casual and hides her insecurities and at no point does she try to accept herself or work on her insecurities on her own, because we have several popular boys that brings them security. So, while we have Hasley having an affair with a popular guy, on the other hand we have her creating emotional dependency for Luke, the good thing is that Luke doesn't use her as a sex object, which is a breakthrough.
In the book we have the perspective of both protagonists and we can see that they are very childish, they solve problems in a not at all mature way despite being between 17 and 18, they have fights over stupid things that come out of nowhere, which is true, in real life sometimes we fight over stupid things, but not so often. Again we bring the topic of addictions, the characters talk about it in an unnatural way and the topic is treated from a superficial point of view and what is politically correct, leaving "motivational" phrases that are anything but motivational.

Este libro no me hizo llora, el final es sacado de la nada, es entendible porque en Wattpad la historia es publicada por capítulos y teniendo en cuenta que son muy predecibles, muchas veces deben sacarse problemas de la nada que nadie se espera.
Lo que realmente te hace llorar son los errores ortográficos y de gramática. Parece que la historia fue sacada directamente de Wattpad con todos sus errores, falta de comas, puntos, tildes y unos verbos mal conjugado y mal uso de palabras. Por acá tenemos ejemplo:
This book didn't make me cry,the ending is pulled out of nowhere, it's understandable because on Wattpad the story is published by chapters and considering they are very predictable, many times they have to pull problems out of nowhere that no one expects.
What really makes you cry are the spelling and grammar mistakes. It seems like the story was taken directly from Wattpad with all its mistakes, missing commas, periods, accents and some badly conjugated verbs and bad use of words. Here is an example:
“Su caballera rubia” – “un asentamiento de cabeza” – “me acerque a su anatomía… el aire colisionando contra nuestra anatomía” – “pronuncié entrecerrando los ojos” – “la tapa se cayó y todo el líquido se derramó ante Luke y mí”.
Los problemas con los verbos se deben a que la historia se cuenta en tiempo pasado, en donde se supone que ya todo ocurrió, pero muchos de los verbos están en presente. Es por ello que otro de los problemas es la editorial, la cual no hizo ningún cambio a favor de la historia, no hizo correcciones de escritura y ni metió la mano por la historia. La nueva editorial se encargó de muchos de estos errores, sin embargo y como no leeré la nueva versión, no sabré exactamente cuáles fueron los cambios, pero según leí, muchos de estos errores se solucionaron, pero la historia sigue siendo la misma.
The problems with the verbs are due to the fact that the story is told in the past tense, where everything is supposed to have already happened, but many of the verbs are in the present tense. That is why another problem is the publisher, who did not make any changes in favor of the story, did not make any writing corrections and did not even put their hand to the story. The new publisher took care of many of these errors, however, and as I will not read the new version, I will not know exactly what the changes were, but from what I read, many of these errors were fixed, but the story remains the same.
Opinión final/ Final opinión
Este libro me decepcionó desde el principio, cuando comencé dije: No, After no” metiendo a el vocalista de una de mis bandas favoritas y utilizando el nombre de una de mis canciones favoritas de la peor manera. Lo más o menos aceptable es que no hay muchísimo relleno, hay cosas estúpidas, pero no se tardan años de contarlas y eso es bueno.
Los personajes son muy aburridos, si los protagonistas son planos, los secundarios son mucho más. De Hasley no sabemos nada y de Luke sabemos más, pero tampoco es un buen personaje, además, es muy castroso y pelea por cosas muy estúpidas.
This book disappointed me from the beginning, when I started it I said: No, After no" putting the vocalist of one of my favorite bands and using the name of one of my favorite songs in the worst way. The more or less acceptable thing is that there is not a lot of filler, there are stupid things, but it doesn't take years to tell them and that's good.
The characters are very boring, if the main characters are flat, the secondary ones are much more. We don't know anything about Hasley and we know more about Luke, but he's not a good character either, besides, he's very castroso and fights for very stupid things.
