Well a while ago I wrote about the book sagas I've read, but today I come to tell you about a particular book, which is very important to me, since it's about my favorite book ❤️
It is not very well known, and in fact, it is of the genre that I usually consume less, the autobiography. But I am an advocate that an inspiring life can inspire others to better themselves and pursue what they long for without letting the winds of uncertainty knock them down.
My favorite book is called "The Falling Leaves " by Adeline Yen Mah.

No es muy conocido, y de hecho, es del género que menos suelo consumir, la autobiografía. Pero yo soy partidaria de que una vida inspiradora puede inspirar a otros a superarse y buscar aquello que anhela sin dejar que los vientos de la incertidumbre lo derriben.
Mi libro favorito se llama "Las Hojas que Caen" de Adeline Yen Mah.
So what's so special about an autobiographical book by a Chinese woman born in her late 30s? A LOT
This book speaks to many, many issues that are still relevant in many parts of the world today: child abuse and neglect, social status by blood and race, unhealthy sibling competition, emotional wounds. And it also leaves open a big question that still haunts my mind: Is there such a thing as Karma?
Adeline Yen Mah was the fifth child of a well-to-do married couple in colonial China. However, her birth brought with it the death of her mother, earning her the resentment of the rest of her siblings.
Everything could have been less tragic if her father had not taken for his second wife a French-Chinese woman named Jeanne, who is referred to throughout the book as "Niang" (mother) and believe me you will learn to detest that name.

Este libro habla de muchísimos temas que aún hoy, siguen vigentes en muchas partes del mundo: El maltrato y la negligencia infantil, el status social por sangre y raza, la competencia insana entre hermanos, las heridas emocionales. Y además, deja abierta una gran pregunta que aún me ronda por la cabeza ¿Existe el Karma?
Adeline Yen Mah fue la quinta hija de un matrimonio muy acomodado en la China colonial. Sin embargo, su nacimiento trajo consigo la muerte de su madre, ganándo con ello el resentimiento del resto de sus hermanos.
Todo podría haber sido menos trágico si su padre no hubiese tomado por segunda esposa a una mujer franco-china llamada Jeanne, la cuál es llamada a lo largo del libro "Niang" (madre) y créame aprenderán a detestar ese nombre.
Under this union, Adeline will learn the hard way that if she is still alive and at home, it is by sheer whim of fate, for under the absolute control of this ruthless woman, our heroine could have easily been given away or left on the street as an orphan.
However, life would have it that this good woman would travel abroad to train as a doctor and from there escape the world of demands and cruelty of her family.
But it was not all tragedy. I think one of the most important lessons of this book is that "Providence never leaves you alone ". The kindness and gentleness of Aunt Baba and Grandpa Ye Ye emotionally sustained children who were victims of unjust circumstances, and they remain as those characters within our hearts that are hard to replace.
Bajo está unión, Adeline aprenderá duramente que si sigue viva y en su casa, es por puro capricho del destino, pues bajo el control absoluto de esta despiadada mujer, nuestra heroína pudo fácilmente ser regalada o dejada en la calle como huérfana.
Sin embargo, la vida quiso que esta buena mujer viajará al extranjero para formarse cómo doctora y a partir de allí escapar del mundo de exigencias y crueldad de su familia.
Pero no todo fue tragedia. Creo que una de las lecciones más importantes de este libro es que "La Providencia no te deja nunca sol@". La bondad y la gentileza de la tía Baba y el abuelo Ye Ye, sostuvieron emocionalmente a niños que fueron víctimas de circunstancias injustas, y se quedan como esos personajes dentro de nuestros corazones que son difíciles de sustituir.
Why is this book so important to me? Well, because it has accompanied me throughout a good part of my life at times when I felt faint and whenever I read it, it reminds me of something very important "The will and the desire to be better can do anything" .
But that is only a part of what it has taught me. In this book I have found many facets of the human being, terrible, but real, it gives me many reflections on Karma and in a way, shows a small part of what was lived in the cultural revolution (which "oh surprise", many things are similar to recent events in Venezuela).
I found this gem in a stall that was auctioning merchandise at a book fair. I'm not sure why it caught my attention, I think it was simply my "Higher Self" who told me to buy it, but my mom didn't want to buy it. She said that the book looked weird and that I wouldn't have the concentration to read it and study the subjects of the 1st year of high school.
So my dad ended up paying for the book in spite of all my mom's complaints. The funny thing was that this was one of the first books I read, when I was about 12 years old 🤭.
¿Por qué este libro es tan importante para mí? Pues porque me ha acompañado a lo largo de buena parte de mi vida en momentos donde me sentía desfallecer y siempre que lo leo me recuerda algo muy importante"La voluntad y el deseo de estar mejor todo lo pueden" .
Pero es solo una parte de todo lo que me ha enseñado. En este libro he encontrado muchas facetas del ser humano, terribles, pero reales, me plantea muchas reflexiones sobre el Karma y en cierto modo, muestra una pequeña parte de lo que se vivo en la revolución cultural (que "oh sorpresa", muchas cosas se parecen a acontecimientos recientes en Venezuela)
Esta joya la encontré en un puestito que estaba rematando mercancía en una feria del libro. No tengo claro porque me llamó la atención, creo que fue simplemente mi "Yo Superior" quién me dijo cómpralo, peeeero, mi mamá no me lo quería comprar. Decía que ese libro se veía raro y que además yo no tendría la concentración para leerlo y además estudiar las materias de 1er año de bachillerato.
Total que mi papá terminó pagando el libro a pesar de todos los reclamos de mi mamá. Lo gracioso estuvo en que este fue uno de los primeros libros que leí, por allí cuando tenía como 12 años 🤭
If you want to read a story of overcoming, hope and very touching based on real events, this is the book. I would love to tell you that you can find it over there on the internet but well no... however, there are some pretty affordable offers to have it in physical and believe me you won't regret it.
I would like to end this post with some of the parts that I feel are the most captivating and will help you to get hooked on this story 😊 (If you see stains on the pages is because this friend was printed in 2004 😅 it's about to be 20 years old)

Si desean leer una historia de superación, esperanza y muy conmovedora basada en hechos reales, este es el libro. Me encantaría decirles que pueden encontrarlo por allí en internet pero pues no… sin embargo, sí que hay algunas ofertas bastante accesibles para tenerlo en físico y créanme no se van a arrepentir.
Me gustaría terminar este post con algunas de las partes que siento son más cautivadoras y les servirán para engancharse de una vez con esta historia 😊 (Si ven manchas en las páginas es porque este amigo fue impreso en el 2004 😅 ya le falta poco para cumplir 20 años)
