Let's talk about The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones💙📚💫 || Hablemos de Cazadores de Sombras: Ciudad de Hueso💙📚💫

Really, when it comes to talk about books, I have a lot of fabric to cut, I've lost count of how many books I've read in my whole life, I just know that since I was a child reading has always been one of my greatest loves 💜 And something that characterizes me as a reader, is that I love literary sagas, I love long stories. Sometimes I like to read a short book, but -for me- nothing compares like a story divided in several books, I feel that way you can have a deeper connection with the characters and the plot, they become part of your day to day, and of your life✨

Therefore, I will tell you about an important saga for me, because it's the first one I have in physical and complete form. The six books accompanied me at different times (because I'm the kind of person who takes her books everywhere), and they will always be special. I'm talking about the Shadowhunters saga by Cassandra Clare✨ I thought about doing a review about the complete saga, but the story is long and has many details, so I think each book deserves its protagonism, so in this occasion I will tell you -without spoilers- about the first book: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

De verdad, cuando se trata de hablar sobre libros, tengo mucha tela que cortar, he perdido la cuenta de cuántos libros he leído en toda mi vida, solo sé que desde niña la lectura siempre ha sido uno de mis mayores amores 💜 Y algo que me caracteriza como lectora, es que adoro las sagas literarias, adoro las historias largas. A veces me gusta leer un libro corto, pero —para mí— nada se compara como una historia dividida en varios libros, siento que así puedes tener una conexión más profunda con los personajes y la trama, se convierten en parte de tu día a día, y de tu vida✨

Por eso, les hablaré sobre una saga importante para mí, porque es la primera que tengo en físico y completa. Los seis libros me acompañaron en diferentes momentos (porque soy la clase de persona que se lleva sus libros a todos lados), y siempre serán especiales. Me refiero a la saga de Cazadores de Sombras de Cassandra Clare✨ Pensé realizar una reseña sobre la saga completa, pero la historia es larga y tiene muchos detalles, así que creo que cada libro se merece su protagonismo, asi que en esta ocasión les comentaré —sin spoilers— sobre el primer libro: Cazadores de Sombras: Ciudad de Hueso.

On the back cover of the book we find the following: "At Pandemonium, the trendiest nightclub in New York, Clary follows an attractive blue-haired boy until she witnesses his death at the hands of three young men covered in strange tattoos. From that night on, her fate joins that of these shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons and, above all, that of Jace, an angel-like boy with a tendency to act like a jerk."

Fantasy stories are my favorite, I love to travel to new wonderful worlds, full of magic and adventures, through books. And with this saga I learned that, although sometimes we don't find what we want, destiny can offer us better things, given that the day I bought this book I was really in search of another story, Hush Hush, but I didn't find it, and the saleswoman introduced me to Shadowhunters, I hadn't heard anything about this book, but... Warriors, angels, demons, vampires, werewolves and wizards? It was for me💜

En la contraportada del libro encontramos lo siguiente: "En el Pandemonium, la discoteca de moda de Nueva York, Clary sigue a un atractivo chico de pelo azul hasta que presencia su muerte a manos de tres jóvenes cubiertos de extraños tatuajes. Desde esa noche, su destino se une al de esos cazadores de sombras, guerreros dedicados a liberar la tierra de demonios y, sobre todo, al de Jace, un chico con aspecto de ángel y tendencia a actuar como un idiota"

Las historias de fantasía son mis preferidas, adoro viajar a nuevos mundos maravillosos, llenos de magia y aventuras, a través de los libros. Y con esta saga aprendí que, aunque a veces no encontramos lo que queremos, el destino nos puede ofrecer cosas mejores, dado que el día que compré este libro realmente estaba en búsqueda de otra historia, Hush Hush, pero no lo encontré, y la vendedora me presentó a Cazadores de Sombras, no había escuchado nada sobre este libro, pero… ¿Guerreros, ángeles, demonios, vampiros, hombres lobos y magos? Era para mí💜

Well, I was delighted with this story🤭 Cassandra Clare gives us the World of Shadows, a universe characterized by the eternal war between light and darkness, between angels and demons, and as always, humans suffering in the middle of everything. Here all the legends are real, those monsters of the tales do exist, in the cities also walk vampires, werewolves, wizards, fairies, goblins, and anything you can imagine, even demons. All hidden under charms to go unnoticed by the human eye, except for the shadowhunters, those half-angel-half-human people who can see any creature, and have the power to disappear them if necessary.

The best part is that the settings are completely mundane -at least in this book-, through New York City different mysteries are hidden, and its places are used for encounters between different species seeking to survive. But, since most of the characters are teenagers, we also see young people who, in the quest to balance their own desires and their duty to protect humanity, get into trouble that keeps the reader guessing.

Bueno, yo quedé encantada con esta historia🤭 Cassandra Clare nos regala el Mundo de las Sombras, un universo caracterizado por la guerra eterna entre la luz y la oscuridad, entre ángeles y demonios, y como siempre, los humanos sufriendo en el intermedio de todo. Aquí todas las leyendas son reales, esos monstruos de los cuentos sí existen, en las ciudades también caminan vampiros, hombres lobos, magos, hadas, duendes, y cualquier cosa que te imagines, hasta demonios. Todos ocultos bajo encantos para pasar desapercibido ante el ojo humano, excepto de los cazadores de sombras, esas personas mitad ángel-mitad humanos que pueden ver a cualquier criatura, y poseen el poder de desaparecerlos si es necesario.

Lo mejor es que los escenarios son completamente mundanos —al menos en este libro—, a través de la ciudad de Nueva York se esconden distintos misterios, y sus lugares sirven para encuentros entre distintas especies que buscan sobrevivir. Pero, dado que, la mayoría de los personajes son adolescentes, también vemos jóvenes que, en la búsqueda de equilibrar sus propios deseos y su deber en la protección de la humanidad, se entran en distintos problemas que mantienen al lector en la expectativa.

A thousand years ago demons were invading the world of humans, causing misfortunes and destroying everything in their path, humans did not have the strength to fight them until the angel Raziel appeared, who offered his blood to enhance the abilities of people, turning them into a new species capable of defeating all shadows. They possess different tools to fulfill their mission, such as drawing special runes on their bodies to improve their skills; they have their own country hidden from mundanes, called Idris; their own government, called The Key; and even special bonds among them, such as the Parabatai✨

With the arrival of the demons also appeared new species, known as "subterranean", which are vampires, werewolves, wizards... all of them as a mixture between demons and humans. Therefore, the Shadowhunters, also known as Nephilim, not only have to eliminate the demons that hide and disturb the humans, but they must also maintain the balance of coexistence between the different species of subterraneans.

Hace mil años los demonios estaban invadiendo el mundo de los humanos, causando desgracias y destruyendo todo a su paso, los humanos no poseían la fuerza para combatirlos hasta que apareció el ángel Raziel, quien ofreció su sangre para potenciar las habilidades de las personas, convertirlos en una nueva especie capaz de derrotar a todas las sombras. Poseen distintas herramientas para cumplir su misión, como dibujar en sus cuerpos runas especiales para mejorar sus destrezas; cuentan con un país propio escondido de los mundanos, llamado Idris; su propio gobierno, denominado La Clave; e incluso vínculos especiales entre ellos, como lo son los Parabatai✨

Con la llegada de los demonios también aparecieron nuevas especies, conocidos como "subterráneos", los cuales son los vampiros, hombres lobos, magos... todos ellos como una mezcla entre los demonios y humanos. Por lo tanto, los cazadores de sombras, también conocidos como Nefilim, no solo deben desaparecer a los demonios que se esconden y molestan a los humanos, sino que, además, deben mantener el equilibrio de la convivencia entre las distintas especies de subterráneos.

Clary Fray🌸 Yes, she is a strong and brave protagonist, who is discovering a new world, however, she belongs there, she is a shadowhunter, but by matters of fate and the past of her parents, she was alienated from her own kind. Clary has a great talent that she discovers in the development of the book; and she is a person who seeks the welfare of her loved ones. But seriously, many times I wanted to punch her😂 She's not the kind of protagonist I could completely empathize with, because several times she was very heavy-handed and I couldn't stand her actions. I had to remind myself that she was a teenager, a bit immature, entangled inside this new world, in order to understand her a bit more.

Clary Fray🌸 Sí, es una protagonista fuerte y valiente, que está descubriendo un nuevo mundo, sin embargo, ella pertenece allí, ella es una cazadora de sombras, pero por cuestiones del destino y el pasado de sus padres, fue alejada de su propia especie. Clary tiene un gran talento que va descubriendo en el desarrollo del libro; y es una persona que busca el bienestar de sus seres queridos. Pero, en serio, muchas veces quise golpearla😂 No es la clase de protagonista con la que yo pude empatizar completamente, porque varias veces fue muy pesada y no soportaba sus acciones. Tuve que recordarme que era una adolescente, un poco inmadura, enredada dentro de este nuevo mundo, para poder comprenderla un poco más.

Jace Wayland✨ He is a complex character, but his sarcastic attitude I always loved, I feel it was his way of protecting himself, because as we get to know him we realize he hasn't had an easy life, and he really is still a broken and hurt kid inside. But that experience has made him the best shadowhunter of his generation, he would die happy if he is saving someone he loves. He is a great character, his comments always brought a smile to my face, his intelligence was amazing, and the first time I read this saga, I felt like I was growing up with him.

Jace Wayland✨ Es un personaje complejo, pero su actitud sarcástica siempre me encantó, siento que era su manera de protegerse, porque a medida que lo vamos conociendo nos damos cuenta de que no ha tenido una vida fácil, y realmente sigue siendo un niño roto y lastimado en su interior. Pero esa experiencia lo ha convertido en el mejor cazador de sombras de su generación, él moriría feliz si está salvando a alguien que ama. Es un gran personaje, sus comentarios siempre me sacaban una sonrisa, su inteligencia era asombrosa, y la primera vez que leí esta saga, sentí que crecía con él.

Simon Lewis💥 I will always say that he was a character who was here to suffer. Yes, Simon will do great things during the story, but he suffered like no one else. Cassandra took him back and forth without any shame. In this first book I dislike Simon, I must admit; he's very meddlesome, and at times I wanted to punch him too, but he had good character development – not in this book – and I ended up loving him (and crying). But there is one thing that characterizes him, right from the beginning, his loyalty; Simon is the kind of friend who would follow you to the end of the world to support you.

Simon Lewis💥 Siempre diré que él fue un personaje que estuvo aquí para sufrir. Sí, Simon hará grandes cosas durante la historia, pero sufrió como nadie más. Cassandra lo llevó de un lado para otro sin ningún pudor. En este primer libro Simon me cae mal, debo admitirlo; es muy entrometido, y a veces también quería golpearlo, pero él tuvo un buen desarrollo de personaje —no en este libro— y terminé queriéndolo (y llorando). Pero sí hay algo que lo caracteriza, desde el principio, su lealtad; Simon es la clase de amigo que te seguiría hasta el fin del mundo para apoyarte

Alec and Isabelle Lightwood🌺 These shadowhunter siblings are Jace's faithful companions, the three were raised together and treat Jace as another brother, therefore, at first they don't accept Clary, they see her as an ordinary human meddling in Jace's life. In this first book they don't have so much relevance, but they are very important characters that I adore. Alec, a vulnerable boy, always caring about others before himself, is Jace's parabatai and understands him like no one else. Izzy, she's fascinating, she's the only girl in the group, but she's no slouch, she knows what she wants and goes for it, and anyone who crosses her path and brings her discomfort will be met head on with her whip.

Alec e Isabelle Lightwood🌺 Estos hermanos cazadores de sombras son los compañeros fieles de Jace, los tres se criaron juntos y tratan a Jace como otro hermano, por lo tanto, al principio no aceptan a Clary, la ven como una humana corriente entrometiéndose en la vida de Jace. En este primer libro ellos no tienen tanta relevancia, pero son personajes muy importantes y que yo adoro. Alec, un chico vulnerable, siempre preocupándose por lo demás antes que sí mismo, es el parabatai de Jace y lo comprende como nadie más. Izzy, es fascinante, es la única chica del grupo, pero no se queda atrás, ella sabe lo que quiere y va por ello, y cualquiera que se cruce en su camino y le traiga molestias se verá de frente con su látigo.

Magnus Bane ❤️ He's a cat-eyed sorcerer, and my favorite character in the whole saga✨ Magnus doesn't appear much in the first book, but he's a key character, since he helps Clary understand part of her past. He's charismatic, outgoing and unique, he's wonderful and extremely powerful, and I adore him. His first appearance is at a party, his cat's birthday party🤭 He will be immersed in the world of shadowhunters, despite having dodged them for centuries, but when love knocks at your door, how could you not open it (but I won't tell you from whom, read the book😌)

Magnus Bane ❤️ Es un brujo con ojos de gato, y mi personaje favorito de toda la saga✨ Magnus no aparece mucho en el primer libro, pero es un personaje clave, dado que él ayuda a Clary a comprender parte de su pasado. Es carismático, extrovertido y único, él es maravilloso y sumamente poderosos, y yo lo adoro. Su primera aparición es en una fiesta, la fiesta de cumpleaños de su gato🤭 Él se verá inmerso en el mundo de los cazadores de sombras, a pesar de haberlos esquivado por siglos, pero cuando el amor llama a tu puerta, ¿cómo podrías no abrirle? (pero no les diré de quién, lean el libro😌)

It's the beginning of a long story, so this book is introductory about everything about the shadow world, there are several problems to solve, and we meet the villain, besides, it introduces the main plot of the next books, which is the search for the "Mortal Instruments", the tools of the angel Raziel to create the shadowhunters, it's a time mission since dark forces are also looking for the same. There is a plow twist at the end of the book that -to me- was totally unnecessary, seriously, it was ridiculous, it just added more drama that no one wanted. But, anyway, every author is free in what they write.

A very exciting story, ideal for those who love fantasy reading with its moments of romance😌 There are good moments of action, tension, even comedy. Cassandra did an excellent job with the narration of the details, you feel like you are there, and you end up knowing very well everything you need to know about the shadowhunters.

Note: I noticed that the English version's title is "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones", and its cover is the design of the second book, and vice versa🤔

Es el inicio de una larga historia, así que este libro es introductorio acerca de todo lo referente del mundo de las sombras, existen varios problemas que resolver y conocemos al villano, además, nos presenta la trama principal de los siguientes libros, la cual es la búsqueda de los "Instrumentos Mortales", las herramientas del ángel Raziel para crear los cazadores de sombras, es una misión de tiempo dado que fuerzas oscuras también buscan lo mismo. Existe un plow twist al final del libro que —para mí— fue totalmente innecesario, en serio, fue ridículo, solo agregó más drama que nadie quería. Pero, en fin, cada autor es libre de lo que escribe.

Una historia muy emocionante, ideal para quiénes aman la lectura de fantasía con sus momentos de romance😌 Hay buenos momentos de acción, de tensión, hasta de comedia. Cassandra hizo un excelente trabajo con la narración de los detalles, sientes que estás ahí y terminas conociendo muy bien todo lo necesario acerca de los cazadores de sombras.

Nota: Me dí cuenta que la versión en inglés el título es "Los Instrumentos Mortales: Ciudad de Hueso", y su portada es el diseño del segundo libro, y viceversa🤔
