Giveaways? Discord? Trading/pools?

Good evening buzzers!

As I'm getting back into the buzz of Hive things are continuing to pop into my head, and as always, it would be nice to have other opinions on things.

I mean, do people still flock to giveaways? I remember the days when airdrop hunters/giveaway bots would dominate the crypto space, is there still a want for such things? Would people jump to a discord server/twitter for a giveaway? Are people still completing 'tasks' in order to earn points to gain prizes? Has Hive passed this phase or should we push this phase and try to onboard more users?

We, for example, in the slothbuzz community enjoy a contest or event which requires 'some' work, for example making a MEME, or posting a photo/writing a blog on a certain topic. (There are a few great chances to participate in such events via Hive already). We also hold small giveaways via our discord, these keep people chatting and interested.

What sort of giveaways do you like? I know the Hive standard has pushed a few of these 'low value' 'repeat post' type giveaways out, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Some users were making a killing off these low-quality posts. It is however a fair way for small users to build some interactions and connections here on Hive. I guess it's a fine line between providing value and creating spam in this regard.

The same could be said for a number of the community tokens here on Hive/Hive-engine. Communities have limited ability to utilise their tokens after launch, which we've found at slothbuzz. The token is great as a curation tool, but what else can it provide?

Are people actively trading Hive tokens? Are they simply dumping their earned curation rewards onto the market? And which market? Do people prefer to trade directly via tribaldex or utilise pools via beeswap? I guess the question I'm getting to here is whether it is worth us creating a slothbuzz pool...we could of course add some rewards and give users a reason to stake their tokens into the LP pool. But will it be another investment on my part that has no real return?

I was quite happy to invest in the start-up of slothbuzz, it's a cool thing to say you're the owner of a community/token. Of course, I knew all along it wouldn't be an easy ride, and the investment was more of a deposit into the token as opposed to something I would ever make a return on. We never promised anyone would make a return on the token, and we continue down this path. We do however want to give the community the best opportunity to use the token, sometimes it's challenging to see how this will pan out. At the end of the day we're trying to build a community more thank just a token. You opinions matter, and this can be said for the majority of Hive. We, the users shape the future, Hive is what we make it!

Where do you see Hive or your favourite Hive-engine token in the next year? 5 years? 10 years? Will we ever become a mainstream presence, dominating certain markets? Or will we continue a niche within a niche, and in some cases within a niche?

Well, until next time,
sloth out!
