Referendum & Esequibo

La opinión estaba dividida, "en apariencia"
pelear por una tierra anónima invisible en el mapa
qué sentido tiene derramar sangre
donde los militares no quieren poner el pecho,
les falta eso que llena los pantalones
y los políticos solo piensan en su ego.
Además
la gente siente que no le pertenece,
Y si estoy equivocado? - pensé -
me fui entonces a ver los toros desde la barrera
y el toro también estaba mirando desde ahí.

Y la gente no salió a votar, yo incluido.
Parece que tengo razón.

Opinion was divided, "on the surface".
fighting over an anonymous land invisible on the map
what sense does it make to spill blood
where the military does not want to put its chest,
they lack that which fills their pants
and the politicians only think of their ego.
Besides
people feel that they don't belong to them,
And if I am wrong? - I thought -
I went then to watch the bulls from the barrier
and the bull was also watching from there.

And people didn't go out to vote, me included.
It seems that I am right.
