HILO Y AGUJA

El pasado es un hilo invisible;
no está, pero teje el camino andado.

El futuro, en cambio, es el carrete
donde enrollaremos los próximos hilos.

¿Y el presente?
la aguja para tejer el día.

El tiempo es hilo y aguja;
no se detiene aunque Penélope desteja,
no se adelanta aunque Ulises corra;
pero queda, aunque Homero haya muerto.
Es inmortal.

Hilo y aguja
para la costura por donde entra el sol,
para avanzar el horizonte,
para tejer la tarde y su ocaso.
Hilo y aguja como el río de Heráclito
que aparentemente es el mismo,
pero no sus aguas, su cauce.
Nadie teje dos veces con la misma aguja.

Thread and needle

The past is an invisible thread;
it is not there, but it weaves the path we have traveled.

The future, on the other hand, is the reel on which we will wind the next threads.

And the present?
The needle to weave the day.

Time is thread and needle;
it does not stop although Penelope unweaves,
it does not advance though Odysseus runs;
but it remains, though Homer is dead.
It is immortal.

Thread and needle
for the seam where the sun enters,
to advance the horizon,
to weave the evening and its sunset.
Thread and needle like the river of Heraclitus
which apparently is the same,
but not its waters, its course.
No one weaves twice with the same needle.
