¿QUIERES SER MI AMIGO?
Theo acababa de salir de un coma etílico. Se dio cuenta de que debía alejarse de la mala vida que llevaba, donde su adicción por las drogas y el alcohol casi acaba con él.
Es entonces cuando quiso adentrarse en la naturaleza para encontrar la paz que le faltaba. Siempre le habían llamado la atención los osos pardos, y estando ese verano acampado allí, pudo ver a uno de cerca. En lugar de correr en la otra dirección asustado, él quiso acercarse más. Estaba asombrado por la hipnotizante belleza de esa bestia de tres metros, que bebía del arroyo e intentaba cazar unos peces.

Los ojos del animal se clavaron en Theo cuando advirtió su presencia. Él, continuó allí de pie, hablando con él como si lo hiciese con una mascota, llamándole “buen chico” e intentando que su voz sosegada trasmitiera cierta tranquilidad al oso, y al parecer lo consiguió.
El hombre se pasó los tres meses de verano allí acampado, estrechando su relación con ese animal y los de su especie. Más maravillado que cauto, siguió intentando aproximarse más a ellos hasta el punto de llegar a acariciar a una de las crías de una osa.

Sorprendentemente, ésta le permitió jugar con sus oseznos a cambio de que él compartiese un poco de su comida con ellos. A estas alturas, Theo tenía una confianza ciega en estos animales, y al parecer, su seguridad en sí mismo y la ausencia de temor permitía que ellos no lo percibiesen como una amenaza.
Los siguientes veranos, Theo siguió volviendo a dicho parque natural para volver a hacer una y otra vez la misma hazaña. Empezó a documentar en vídeo y fotografías su acercamiento con estos animales. Incluso fundó una organización para contribuir a preservarlos. Les había puesto nombre y los amaba más que a su propia vida.
En una ocasión dijo que, de tanto que los quería, moriría por ellos. Este joven se había convertido en toda una celebridad por su valentía y sus vídeos habían dado la vuelta al globo.
En el verano número 13, regresó como cada año anterior al hogar de estos majestuosos seres; esta vez acompañado de su novia.
En esta ocasión quiso alargar más de lo habitual su estadía, coincidiendo casi con el periodo de hibernación. Había llovido poco en esos meses y los osos tenían poco alimento.
Esa noche se acostó a dormir en su tienda junto a su novia, pero fue despertado por unos rugidos. Encendió su cámara, pero no alcanzó a quitar la lente. Esa bestia se le echó encima y, el audio de sus gritos junto a los de su novia quedaron registrados para siempre.
Al día siguiente cuando el helicóptero vino a buscarlos, encontraron a un oso alimentándose de lo que parecía ser una caja torácica. Temiéndose lo peor, avisó a los guardas y mataron al oso para poder abrirlo por dentro. En su interior encontraron los restos de Theo y su pareja. Habían sido devorados vivos por el animal hambriento.

DO YOU WANNA BE MY FRIEND?
Theo had just come out of an alcoholic coma. He realized that he needed to get away from the bad life he was leading, where his addiction to drugs and alcohol almost killed him.
That's when he wanted to go into nature to find the peace he was missing. He had always been attracted to grizzly bears, and while camping there that summer, he was able to see one up close. Instead of running in the other direction in fear, he wanted to get closer. He was amazed by the mesmerizing beauty of the ten-foot beast, drinking from the stream and trying to catch some fish.

The animal's eyes were fixed on Theo when he noticed his presence. He continued to stand there, talking to it as if he were talking to a pet, calling it "good boy" and trying to make his calm voice convey a certain tranquility to the bear, and apparently he succeeded.
The man spent the three summer months camped there, strengthening his relationship with the animal and his kind. More amazed than cautious, he kept trying to get closer to them to the point of petting one of the bear cubs.

Surprisingly, she allowed him to play with her cubs in exchange for him sharing some of his food with them. By now, Theo had a blind trust in these animals, and apparently, his self-confidence and lack of fear meant that they did not perceive him as a threat.
The following summers, Theo kept returning to the natural park to do the same feat over and over again. He began documenting his approach to these animals on video and in photographs. He even founded an organization to help preserve them. He had named them and loved them more than his own life.
He once said that, as much as he loved them, he would die for them. This young man had become a celebrity for his bravery and his videos had gone around the globe.
In summer number 13, he returned to the home of these majestic beings, as he had done every year before, this time accompanied by his girlfriend.
This time he wanted to extend his stay longer than usual, almost coinciding with the hibernation period. It had rained less during those months and the bears had less food.
That night he went to sleep in his tent with his girlfriend, but was awakened by roars. He turned on his camera, but couldn't get the lens off. The beast was upon him and the audio of his screams and those of his girlfriend were recorded forever.
The next day when the helicopter came to pick them up, they found a bear feeding on what appeared to be a rib cage. Fearing the worst, he alerted the rangers and they killed the bear so they could open it from the inside. Inside they found the remains of Theo and his mate. They had been eaten alive by the hungry animal.
