🎉 Happy New Year Everyone🥳
My favorite subjects to photography are animals and birds. I thought I would start 2022 off with posting photos of the Great Blue Heron and the bird’s reflections.
These are photos from my archives from walks along the Montague waterfront.
This is a young heron who is hiding near the reeds as an eagle is nearby.
It’s more a reflection of the scenery on the shoreline than the bird.
Both an Eagle and the Great Blue Heron use this water to fish. I’ve seen them both there and they seem to be peacefully co-existing. Although the adult Great Blue Heron has few predators, the eggs and younger ones are in danger from eagles and others.
The majestic eagle flies low by the same area checking for his dinner. Later I saw him with an eel in his claws.
I was happy to see the young heron was safe as it’s a bird eat bird world out there!
Congrats to @olgavita for starting the New Year as the host of the Reflection Hunters Contest. Check Here for more information.
Many thanks to @annephilbrick for her excellent work as the former host. She is not leaving us but will now have more time to assist @melinda010100 with the Shadow Contest.
These are both excellent contest so why not join in the fun?
