My Entry for Round 242 of the Shadow Contest/SMASh

Last Saturday, my city held their annual Dia de los Muertos festival. This "day of the dead" celebration actually occurs on November 1st and 2nd in conjunction with the Catholic holy days of All Saints Day and All Souls Day. There weren't a lot DdlM type shadows but, luckily, they also chose to honor the Texas state insect, the Monarch Butterfly, on the same day. So, I captured some nice butterfly shadows.

The first image is my entry for this week's "Show Me A Shadow Contest," the weekly contest created by @melinda010100, judged by @annephilbrick, and brought to you by the Shadow Hunters Community - hive-179017. If you want to show off your shadow photos, you will find details on this week's SMASh contest here.

Here are some more shadows and other images from the event:

Finally, some Dia de los Muertos images!

A couple of views of the ofrenda, or altar. There are images of loved ones who have passed, bright marigolds to attract the spirits, water to soothe their thirst, favorite foods or drinks they enjoyed while alive, and many other items. You can read more about ofrendas here.

And, finally, my shadow enjoying a cold beer

Thanks for looking. Happy shadow hunting!
